Thanks Sub

Question though - If you let GB-PVR call FFMpeg for .vob files also, would that be a neat solution to playing then on MVP ? It appears to me FFMpeg will handle the rest. (If I'm missing something obvious, I apologise !)

!! FOR ALL THOSE WHO HAVE THE PROBLEM WITH THE BLOCKY MOVIES !!

use these settings:

<MVPFFmpegTranscodeCmdLinePAL>-y -i "{SOURCE_FILE}" -b 2400 -r 25 -s 352x288 "{DEST_FILE}"</MVPFFmpegTranscodeCmdLinePAL>

<MVPFFmpegTranscodeCmdLineNTSC>-y -i "{SOURCE_FILE}" -b 2400 -r 25 -s 352x288 "{DEST_FILE}"</MVPFFmpegTranscodeCmdLineNTSC>

the problem is that PAL uses 25 frames, and some files downloaded from the internet use 23 fps

I tried this, but it only played the 20 Century Fox logo thing on the half dozen vobs I tried. I suspect there would be more changes required to get this working the way you'd expect.

It works great for me!!
Thanks a lot.
My settings now are:
<MVPFFmpegTranscodeCmdLinePAL>-y -i "{SOURCE_FILE}" -b 2400 -r 25 -s 352x288 -vcodec mpeg2video "{DEST_FILE}"</MVPFFmpegTranscodeCmdLinePAL>
<MVPFFmpegTranscodeCmdLineNTSC>-y -i "{SOURCE_FILE}" -b 2400 -r 25 -s 352x240 -vcodec mpeg2video "{DEST_FILE}"</MVPFFmpegTranscodeCmdLineNTSC>

Note that I left: "vcodec mpeg2video" and in the meantime I increased also the MVP liveTV preplay delay up to 1000 ms.

pimboli - Many thanks for the tip! this setting works for me too. I finally have smooth, full screen, fully synched avi files playing on my MVP.... Woohoo!! Big Grin

I've not tried this yet since my PC doesn't have enough horsepower to transcode to MPEG in realtime yet (it soon will though). However, isn't it true that the -r25 option will cause trouble for people in North America that have NTSC MPVs? In that case should the -r option be 30, or 29.97?
