ShiningDragon, if you want to post a set of logs playing a DVD with PureVideo/Nero installed and I'll see if I can see any funny directshow filters being used, which is about only possible reason I can think of.

Would it be more of help, if i am install "all" CoDec's, give you access per VPN and you control yourself? My big problem is my working time; i am working most of the time 14h/day and aren't often @ home. I am fully trusting you and this way could be the best. You know, that i have sometimes "curious" experiences and this way you could look everytime. What do you think?

FYI, I did not have a chance to try anything this weekend. But I can confirm that I currently have BOTH the nVidia codecs installed (which I use for Live TV) AND Intervideo WinDVD 6 which I have tested with the DVD. In my case they seem to cohabit OK and the TV and DVD are ALMOST working properly. TV using the nVidia codecs is fine and with the Intervideo codecs I am able to watch "simple", "older" DVDs without a problem, in my case I tested with Casablanca and Maltese Falcon and they both worked OK. However, more recent DVDs (Harry Potter) do not work and I get the black screen and no response from GBPVR, requiring TaskManager or reboot. I am going to try removing the Intervideo and reinstall Cyberlink 5 --- I have a registered copy of this so I'm not up against expiration dates that way. As you note however, this has occured since upgrading to 96.08/96.12; prior to this GB was using the nVidia codecs exclusively and worked fine. The nVidia codecs are the same ones that have been on the system since about GBPVR 95. I wonder if in the process of installing GB 96 something happened to the registry settings for codecs and a reinstall of mVidia codecs would resolve the matter?

You'll probably find you cant play these DVDs with Windows Media Player either.

DVD doesn't work with both GBPVR and Windows Media Player. There is only one way to whatch DVDs Videolan but not all DVD. When GBPVR starts reading (in effect it doesn't starts) it doesn't load the ffdshow video decoder but only the audio decoder. Further information is Microsoft DECCHECK doesn't find any suitable decoder. I'm still investigating...
