Unable to Update EPG

I just noticed today that my EPG guide was empty. Turns out my labs.zap2it.com account needed a click on the "Update" button. Didn't receive an email warning as I usually do from them.

Were you asked to complete a survey this time? Just curious because I just renewed my account and there was just a submit button or something, but no questions.

Yea the missing survey worries me.
There was always one before, and presumably it was how they justified giving us the data. Since the 8’th, a download requesting over 12-days gives a 12-day download with errors, and incremental downloads (the way they wanted it?) sends invalid junk for the last two days.
With no official replies to questions on their webboard for months, and other users reporting the problems, I’m a bit worried about the future….

Does anyone have any inside info/scoops on the future of zap2it's free EPG? Are we right to be worried?

I wouldnt worry. Its been free for a couple of years, and I dont think it'll change anytime soon.

Before the current zap2it service, people used to use XMLTV grabbers that would extract the listings from the zap2it website. I'm sure if they decided to start charging, you'd see the return of such utilities. I'm fairly sure there will always be a free source of this information available one way or another.
