Quote:f you need to change these default keys then you'd need to switch off the direct access feature.

Does that mean GBPVR needs to have focus to use the remote?

No it doesnt need to mean that. If you use the forum search you should find a few mechanisms described that allow you to use the remote with requiring focus.

Ok, thanks.

Just wondering about the possibilities of direct access to 45-button remote with button mapping facilities in the future?

I'm sure many people (will) have the 45 button remote and would be looking for an alternative to the WinTV software.

Probably zero. I havnt personally been able to use the direct access feature in about 18 months. Of the cards I own, it only works with my PVR350, but unfortunately the IR support on this device has not functioned since the PVR150 was added to my machine. This makes it virtually impossible to make changes or test anything.

The fact that it only works with the previous generation of cards, so only usable by a small number of users, also puts it way down the list of priorities. It is incompatible with how the remote is done on the current generation of cards like PVR150, HVR-1300, NOVA-T etc.

I thought my PVR USB 2 was fairly recent, and considered it "current generation", as it comes with the 45 button remote and uses the same irremote software. How the remote is done differently?

It's maybe worth noting that the direct access feature will only work if I have the irremote program installed (but doesn't need to be running).

Well, kind of. Its only current generation through the fact the analog USB products havnt been updated in a while. The PVR USB2 is quite old now, released at the same time as the PVR250 and PVR350. I'd always assumed its remote was done differently, but admittedly this wasnt something I'd tested myself.

Basically the interface to the driver is different in the newer Hauppauge devices, and not compatible with this old method. I know the new driver interface is used by the PVR150, Nova-SE2, Nova-S Plus, HVR-1100, HVR-1300. This list, combined with the MCE models not having the IR port, means the majority of Hauppauge devices sold today are not compatible with this old mechanism.

Yes, GB-PVR uses direct access to the Hauppauge IR Driver for this feature.
