I'm having trouble setting up my TechniSat Card. How did you configure the card within GBPVR? I need to add a "BDA Recording Plugin" capture source? What did you use for "Region/Transmitter"?

Is it an ATSC card or a DVB card? Elsewhere you asked about a Technisat DVB-S card, which would not be apply to the ATSC discussion in this thread.

Sorry for the confusion earlier. I am attempting to record over the air signals, so I have a ATSC card.

When you setup you capture source as a "TechniSat DVB-PC TV Star", it'll set the country to "All Countries" and the 'Region/Transmitter' to "Manual Tuning". This the only option it'll give you, and the correct one to use. OK out of that screen, then hit the 'map digital channels to EPG channels' to initiate the channel scan.

So, I set de-interlace control to video and de-interlace mode to combine fields. The video playsback without any skips, but its interlaced....

Any Ideas?

EDIT: De interlace mode set at combine fields seems to be the only way to have it without video skipping. But the video is interlaced.

I tried to get ffdshow to deinterlace, but I can't get post processing to work for live tv. It works for the recordings, well somewhat.

Thanks for your help Sub. I followed your directions above, but the 'map digital channels to EPG channels' is greyed out and can't select the button. any suggestions?

I just set up a 'low-power' system:

Dell Dimension 2400, 2.2 Ghz P4, 256MB RAM, 40 GB HD, HVR1600, GeForce FX5500.

Very happy with GB-PVR so far - I will check tonight whether it updated EPB and recorded 3 shows.

Here are my questions:

1. I have been able to watch live TV using the Analog channels, but had no success with ATSC. I followed the directions to add the ATSC tuner as a new capture card, etc. But only static when I try those channels. The HDTV works ok with WinTV2000 (though jerky).

2. I am under the impression that the video card can do hardware decompression - saving CPU. How can I confirm that this is what is happening? When I watch HDTV channels using WinTV2000 the picture is jerky...

3. I am using a regular TV with s-Video/Composite input. How do I watch HDTV on that screen?

4. I have been unable to route the composite video signal through my Onkyo receiver - the manufacturer said that it can't detect the TV through the receiver, so it won't send the signal. Is this true? Any way around it? I checked 'force tv detection' on the nvidia driver, with no luck.

Thank you, all!

It appears the first thing you've missed is scanning and mapping the channels. Until you do that, all you'll get is static.

If your TV does not have HDMI, DMI or Component inputs, I very seriously doubt it's going to be able to do HDTV. You said you have a "regular" TV, and if so, then no HDTV.

I will preface this by saying I am a total noob to GB-PVR, but I am pumped to get it going. I have a Air2PC card that I got off of eBay and I have noticed many other folks here have the card as well. I haven't been able to get mine set up in GBPVR yet though. It doesn't show up as a valid card in the drop down for Capture Cards and when I click the "Only show devices detected in this machine" checkbox it says there are no cards detected. The card works in the software I got from Technisat, so I know if works. Does anyone have any words of wisdom for me?
