If you can provide me with some translations of whichever site looks most promising for getting listings for the Netherlands, I can work on a grabber. I'd be glad to help. I'll probably not work actively on it until I've got the rest of the plugin settled down more though.
http://www.onstage.nl
http://www.biosagenda.nl
http://www.biosnet.nl/overig/filmladder.html
http://www.moviecity.nl/
http://www.filmladder.nl/hello.a....ie=7415
http://www.nfc.org/ser.html

I think filmladder.nl is the most promising site besides the earlier mentioned belbios.nl (I do recall you mentioning about the latter that it was all kind of Java shit), so please tell me which one (as far as the structure goes) is the most promising to parse from (is that the right word?) and I can work on a translation.

I do appreciate the effort very much.

cheers, arttext

I think you're right; http://www.filmladder.nl/ looks the most promising. I think it will be doable. If you want to start working on some basic translation to help me along, that would be wonderful [Image: biggrin.gif]

I ran into a problem with filmladder that hopefully I'll find a solution for.

If you connect to it with a HTTP client that doesn't support javascript, it skips all of the useful information in the page. It's a way they have of preventing webbots like google from indexing their pages.

So I suppose that means that I should wait for a solution or another site we can use right?
I'm sorry the Dutch are giving you such a hard time [Image: rock.gif]

I'll check out Belbios and find out if it will play nicely. If not, either I'll have to find some way to trick my HTTP client into thinking it supports scripting, or find another site that doesn't use those tricks.

Here's to hope!

Looks like belbios won't be any easier... they give you a blank page if you try to access their listings directly. If I could figure out the referrer that they're looking for, it would probably be easier than tricking my client into thinking it supports scripting...

Will you believe me if I say that I haven't got a clue what you're talking about? I do realise that that doesn't help, so if I can do anything....
Please let me know.

I just found a way to make filmladder work. *big sigh of relief* It's ok that you don't know what I'm talking about, most of it is just thinking out loud. It helps me to keep a clear perspective on things.

Sigh here too...Smile
What do you want me to translate there?

Home = Home
Alle Steden = All Cities
Alle Films = All movies
DVD'S & SOUNDTRACKS = DVD's and soundtracks
Links =Links
pretty obvious huh? [Image: rock.gif]

A problem is that they select on city:
Kies je stad= Choose your City
Which is logical since postal codes in the Netherlands are pretty much like "1000" is for the whole Amsterdam area, but is never used. The Code is broken down into streets and sometimes parts of streets like "2238 VB". It's always a combo of 4 digits and 2 letters. That's why they don't use it as a selection criterium. And even our largest city (Amsterdam) has only like 13 theaters, so a city is pretty doable as selection criteria.

If you need anything more, please let me know.
