From that it looks like the device never manages to lock a signal, and no data is ever passed from the device to GB-PVR.

How far are you from the towers (that info is in antennaweb as well)? Do you have trees or buildings in the way. Digital reception is more finicky than analog. With analog you may get snow on the screen, but at that point you would get nothing with digital. I am about 6 miles as a bird flies from the broadcast towers, with very little in the way. At one point I had an antenna (interior) placement that worked until the trees got their leaves back, then I had to repostion the antenna to get anything. Most people find they need to have an outdoor antenna, but I have been successful with an interior one.

antennaweb.org will also suggest an antenna type for you.

i'm like 30 mi away from towers, but hauppage software tunes fine while gbpvr can't tune a channel. as a result, i'm just gonna return it. oh well...

If i were you (and you are lucky that I am not ) i wouldn't give up over-the-air ATSC yet. A disclaimer here...I am too cheap to pay for cable. With that said, I have really enjoyed the programing that is available over the air on feeds that are not availalbe in analog OTA such as the national pbs feed, and some kids channels (2 full time kids channels here, pbs, qubo). In addition, sports in HD are great (i.e. NBA finals right now, etc.), and, in my opinion, they are better quality (less compressed) than HD delivered over digital cable.

Not sure if I know what I am talking about here but I think you may need an external antenna to have consistently good signal. My uneducated guess is that you are just barely receiving enough signal that wintv displays it, but its crappy...and maybe gbpvr just doesnt try at that quality of service? :confused:
