Yeah, I had originally thought of and tried that. Unfortunately, an important part of my pvr / media centre setup is the ability to stream recordings and DVDs around the house using the EWA and GBPVR in client mode. I had to have the recordings set to mpg in order to make this possible.

I haven't had chance to try it yet but I figured I would set it to transcode overnight - hopefully an hour long recording wouldn't take longer than that to transcode?!
