I REALLY need to move. Sad

On the upside: Channel changes for digital OTA is EXTREMELY fast with this card.

Yeah, the prospects of 142 unencrypted QAM channels is nice... but what tuner devices on what PVR software are confirmed to pull them in and just work?

I know the HDHomeRun appears to work with pretty much everything... but I was hoping that I could find an internal (PCI) solution (without having to drop $170). And while the prospects of using this Vista View card are there, I don't know if I have the patience to wait it out for support to arrive (and looking at comments in various threads, it seems several batches of developers are awaiting info/help from Vista View directly in order to get this card working).

But man o man, when the support comes and I do get it up and going... 142 channels will be nice! Smile

The HVR1600 PCI card should pick them up just fine. Its significantly less than $170. Its listed as $89 over at PCAlchemy.

Ok, updated support info from the Vista View folks for the Vista View DA-1N1-E/I:

No plans for Linux support right now. Not likely that it will be supported in the future.

Sage TV supports the cards for ATSC and NTSC, they aren't interested in adding QAM support. Support in GBPVR and Media portal is proving difficult. No ETA on when it will be finished. Microsoft's Vista OS will add support in 2008 (although I can't imagine running a PVR on Vista).

So, to say that this lack of progress is a bit disheartening is an understatement. I'm moving on to the HDHomeRun (I prefer the dual tuner capability offered by this tuner) and thankfully my local Microcenter has them in stock.

The ball is entirely in VistaView's court. I'm waiting for info from them.

Anything new from VistaView yet?

I just returned my card to PCAlchemy cause it wasn't working with QAM with ANY software (MediaPortal included). They seem to be not so good with communication back and forth, though they portray it otherwise.

I'll be purchasing the HVR-1600 once my refund from PCAlchemy comes through, but I was just curious.

I find it difficult to understand why they would mention QAM "capable" if they really offer no software support beyond their drivers.

How goes the battle, sub?

Any feedback from VistaView? It's too late for me, but I had hoped the company cared about it's products better than that (Shimon actually told me that ClearQAM wasn't all it's cracked up to be...uhhh, if you can't get many channels OTA it is!!). More spoils for Hauppauge, I guess.

I have had feedback from VistaView, but despite a few attempts they've been unable to supply the info I require to get QAM working on this device. I'm almost ready to give up on it.

I'd recommend people dont buy this device with QAM in mind. If you need QAM then stick with common devices like the Hauppauge HVR1600 until you hear for sure that the problem has been resolved.

yeah I am in the same boat, bought this card for qam, but I guess I didn't do enough research to find out there is no software currently working with it! Hopefully sooner rather than later.
