Just updated the zip on the wiki with the musicscanner patch and a fix for the edit tag popup memory leak.

I have installed this plugin and so far it does all the things I want from a music plugin.

But I have found some issues (other than those above).
The Screensaver do not start automatically when music is playing. It do start in some cases though.

Why is "Music Artists" and "Music Albums" showing all letters and numbers? Would be more useful if it where showing only used letters and numbers.

I have been playing around with the plugin for a couple of hours and it looks really good guys. It also scanned my collection of 20,000 tracks very quickly indeed.

Here are my $0.02 regarding feature requests and suggestions:
It would be amazing if the plugin could work with the musicip http server that I am running. MusicIP uses very clever tech to fingerprint songs to enable you to create playlists of songs acoustically similar to a chosen "seed track". It works pretty well and is a great way of tackling the old problem of "I don;t know what to listen to".

Page up/down keys to help with browsing collection (the channel up/down keys on the remote usually do this)

ff/rw inside a track

delete track/folder option (with verify or password)

Randomise option to randomly play music, perhaps from a given genre or folder.

Problems
vol up/down from the remote works but you get lots of ++---+++ in the seach field which can cause the music browser to jump around irratically.

MixMan, Unfortunately I have had to uninstall this plug because the music.dll file is intercepting remote keys outside of the music plugin. It is even causing certain functions to crash when I play from the MVP. The typical logs entries look like

Obviously this can be resolved quickly, this is a very promising plugin.

Hi Martin

Bekken and I have discussed the following solution for PCH users.

Option to disable the start of MusicScanner from the plugin.
Instead the plugin will write a value to a table in the database, when Scan Now button is pressed.
Then the MusicScanner will poll this value in every XXX min. (configurable)

Would this be a acceptable solution for PCH users?

Bekken is estimating that it would take something like 40 hours to rewrite the MusicScanner to Service.

Note this is not just PCH users, it is MVP users too. I am not suggesting rewriting this is as a service, just adding a silent mode with no user interaction or UI so it can run from the service.

If you are suggesting adding MusicScanner to start up that is ok too, I will end up removing it and run it on demand as I do now, You need to remember that the share permissions at the user level can be different then the PVRx2 server might see so it probably is better in the plugin.

Tried your plugin but it seems I have some problem loading the skin files. See below. It misses a file called detail_normal.png but that file is not part of the plugin distro. Any suggestions?

@OscarL note MixMan's comment "For now only Blue and Basic skin is supported."

@MixMan I didn't remove your Music plugin because of PCH problems, the real problems are on the MVP. Also FLAC is not on the to-do, this is huge.

Ah stupid me. Mixed up basic and community.

OK now I'm back to business and the plugin works, great!
However there is one function I miss. In the original Music player I could play the songs in a whole directory, including subdirectories by just pressing play when that folder is highlighted. That does not seem to be possible now. (or maybe I´m just stupid again, most probably..)
