I'll bet using the different muxs is a different issue. Recording 0 bytes and playback problems. I can't help too much on the recording option I agree that muxing to MPG is best bet, though I'm working on an on-the-fly transcode solution, but that's something else...

As far as codecs, you've got codec hell.

You've got to try and remove and piece of software you think is using a codec (even though I think Pinnacle isn't the issue, you should do that too.) If you're unsure post what software you aren't sure about and we'll guess as to what uses directshow filters... (example: VLC doen't use external filters, it uses it's own so you won't need to uninstall it...)

Including removing K-Lite. After a reboot, you can check GB-PVR config, and you'll probably only see 'System Default'...

Also there is a free codec check tool ( I can't remember the name) Filter Check I think, that may be able to fix things. Do this after you uninstall everything. It'll probably find broken links, etc... (I have the link at home, I'll get it for you later)

Then install K-LITE. See what happens there

Thank you both for your help and Happy New Year to both.

The problem is now solved. The initial problem was just the setting for the Cyberlink Mux and saving the files as .TX rather than .MPG.

The second, and more serious, set of problems was solved by removing and re-installing the tuner cards. They seemed to have become confused by all the messing about.

All is now well on both PC and MVP. Thank you both again.
