I am still having problems. I have :-

Uninstalled the program.
Deleted program directory.
Deleted C:\Users\<your account>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Devnz.
Run regedit and deleted the HKCU and HKLM software/devnz keys.
Rebooted.
Re-installed.
Added to the bda.ini the Kworld tuner details.
And then tried Configuration, Capture Source tab. And got same result in Digital channel Mapping – program stopped working.

I’ve repeated this sequence some 3 or 4 times, and get the same result each time.

I didn’t apply the 1.3.11 survival guide patches as you said, because I didn’t understand what these were.

You also suggest that I - “sc delete "gb-pvr recording service" “.

I went into command prompt and tried to delete as requested but nothing was returned as found or deleted. Perhaps I am not using command prompt or the instruction properly. Few users in the UK use this facility and thus are inexperienced such as I.

Now, I had GB-PVR working 10 days ago, and all went wrong when I removed sesam tv, media portal, win tv, and a few others I was comparing, and when I decided to stick with GB-PVR (which seemed the best of the bunch). Obviously I didn’t want these others cluttering up my machine.

So I am assuming that all is not lost, I can still receive tv via GB-PVR, if only I can get through the digital mapping.

I am in your hand for advice and guidance, but please remember I am a newbie in this area. Thanks.

deleting the recording service was a only a remedy for getting the program to un-install completely so that you could re-install it successfully. you definitely do not want to delete the recording service after you have it installed. go into services (start->run->services.msc) and check to see if the GB-PVR Recording Service is still listed; if not then you'll need to re-install GB-PVR one more time to get the recording service back.

you will need to install the patches from the 1.3.11 survival guide (sticky at the top of the support forum- http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=40303). In particular, you need the psiparser and gbpvrtsmon updates from post #8, along with the updated tsreader from post #9 and the native utilities dll from post #7 (that update pertains to more than just Windows 7, it includes several previous updates to the native utilities)

finally, I don't recall if we covered video & audio decoders. I don't know which decoders you may have had installed, or which ones got deleted when you un-installed the other media programs. for a simple video decoder to start with you can download http://www.free-codecs.com/download/MPV_Decoder.htm; be sure to read and follow the instructions on how to install and register the filter.

Have gone into “start->run->services.msc” and it’s there advising started and automatic.

I have installed patch 7, but did not add the line suggested. Should I, and if so how?

Also installed patch 8, psiparser and gbpvrtsmon, but not gbpvrtsreader.

And also patch 9, gbpvrtsreader.

On a previous post I advised
“Live tv on this channel (BBC 1) and ctrl-o gives MPEG 1 Layer 2”, is this what you are referring to when you mention video & audio decoders; are you referring to the MPEG-2 Playback decoders on Playback tab. At present these are displaying “system default”. If these are the ones you are referring to should I leave them as is, or change them to MPEG.
Or
Should I continue with the free codecs as you mentioned.

I then did a reboot and nothing happens when I update EPG, and the program still stops working when I try mapping digital channels.

I'm referring to the decoders on the playback tab. Which decoders do you have available on the Video Decoders drop down? You need to select something other than 'System Default' or 'Mpeg Video Decoder'. If nothing else is available, proceed with the MPV decoder I linked in the last message.

I'm working on the idea that when you un-installed the other media apps, your decoders got deleted and/or broken. Now when you go into the mapping screen, it attempts to preview the first channel and blows up because of the decoder issue.

Went to http://www.free-codecs.com/download/MPV_Decoder.htm and downloaded and installed said file via command prompt. Window said install ok.

In playback tab
The video renderer reads vmr9 custom.
I changed video decoder to mpv decoder filter.
All the others on playback and advanced are system default.

In capture sources tab
I still have recording source as digital recording plugin
Epg source as dvb epg broadcast
Channel changer as no channel changer required.

I still cannot update EPG.
When I try to map digital channels to epg channels the whole operation halts with a GB-PVR config stopped working very shortly after initialising and scanning the first of six channels. The first channel scan is not completed.

I have re-booted several times but results are the same.

From your logs directory post your config and config-native logs after attempting a channel scan.

just zip the two log files, don't import them into word or whatever you did. they're too hard to follow in that format.

go to the log directory, click on the log files you want while holding the control key (this lets you select multiple files), finally right click on one of the files (while still holding control) and select Send To->Compressed Folder. then attach the resulting zip file.

edit: also, run config and try a channel scan. after it locks up, do whatever you have to do to close config (end task, reboot, whatever), then zip just the most recent config and config-native log files (ie, not the ones with -1, -2, etc.). also, if you can, take a screenshot (alt-PrtScn) of the crashed channel mapping window and post that as well so we can see exactly where it stops (you'll need to paste the screen shot into windows paint, then save it as a jpeg and attach it)

yes, you've posted the correct info in the correct way.

My first thought is to limit your scan to just the first transponder, since the logs appear to indicate it crashes as it goes to the second one. Make a backup copy of your c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr\bda\dvb-t\0055.ini file, then edit (using notepad or another text editor, not word or wordpad) it to look like this:

Code:
[TERTYPE]
1=Midlands and Eastern England
2=Tacolneston
[DVB]
0=1
1=C63,810000,0,0,8

If the scan works that way, then you might try scanning for all except the second one, thusly:

Code:
[TERTYPE]
1=Midlands and Eastern England
2=Tacolneston
[DVB]
0=5
1=C63,810000,0,0,8
2=C53,730166,0,0,8
3=C58,769834,0,0,8
4=C61,794000,0,0,8
5=C64,818000,0,0,8

I've left out the original line "2=C60,786000,0,0,8" so as to skip that transponder and scan the remaining 4. If that works, then we know there's something about that transponder that is causing the crash. You could go on without those channels of course, but I presume that not really a workable option.

I have no idea why it's crashing though... we're going to exhaust my knowledge here, and need to rely on sub or others who are more familiar with UK DVB-T tuning.
