OK. I checked Windows firewall (the only one I use) and though PVRX2 was listed among the exceptions, "config" was not. I added it and re-scanned. This time it seemed to work, with numerous channels reported in the "channels found" window. I then put a check in the "enable" box of several fo the channels to see whether I could view them live using the program. No luck — I click on "Live TV" and nothing happens (eventually it changes to screeen-saver mode).

You actually have to click the 'tuning request' column next to that check box to peform the mapping (and retick the checkbox), otherwise it'll automatically marked as 'disabled' since their is no mapping.

I'm losing ground. I tried clicking in the (empty) box adjacent to the "enabled" box which is in the column under the heading "tuning request" for a couple of the stations — with no effect, both having manually ticked the "enabled" checkbox and with the checkbox cleared (figuring perhaps it "ticks" itself once the tuning request has been processed). There is no indication that clicking a cell in the "tuning request" column accomplishes anything (indeed, the "tuning request" cells have no appearance of being clickable) — so I tried clicking the "tuning request" heading itself — still no response. I attempted to update the EPG, but got an error (I think the same as what I saw before I had entered my SD username and password). I looked at the settings, and the username and password fields were now blank. I re-enter them, including the suffix to specify lineup #1). I attempt to "map scanned channels to EPG" and see that the "channels found" is still populated, but get nowhere in my attempts to create links between the found channels and the EPG lineup. To be honest, I am not at this point even interested in the EPG guide — I would simply expect to able to click on "Live TV" from the main menu and be presented with a list of available (though perhaps anonymous) channels.

Have you seen the Initial Setup Guide for ATSC/QAM at http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=43361 ? I included HDHomeRun specific instructions.

Took a weeklong break (entertaining houseguests), and tonight succeeded in mapping channels, which allows me to view (though only briefly) the mapped channels using the PVRX2 program. Playback is fine for about 5 seconds, then audio stuttering sets in, deteriorating to no audio, followed by video stutter and video freeze — all within about 15 seconds. I tried all of the available video renderers w/o success. Would like to change the MPEG2 video and audio codecs to whatever HomeRun uses (since playback of live TV is flawless using HomeRun's native player), but don't know what they are. Do you? And is this a reasonable next step?

The QuickTV app actually uses Media Player which uses the Microsoft decoders. I have good results in PVRx2 with AC3Filter for audio and almost any MPEG2 decoder for video. Make sure your audio renderer is set to system default and specify the decoders.

I think I have resolved the stuttering/freezing by using generic video and audio decoders I just downloaded and installed. There remains, however, a problem of missing buttons for controlling Live TV. I have only "+", "-", "||", and "X" — there is no "play" button nor FF nor RW (nor record, if that is indeed something I should expect to see). Pressing the pause button simply causes the video to freeze permanently, locking up the program. It seems that for each problem I resolve, another crops up every step of the way.

Perhaps I should mention that my previous TV tuner was a Dvico Fusion Dual Express which worked fine, in general, except that it had only one coax input (which made switching between cable and OTA a pain) and of course lacked the network features which attracted me to HomeRun. The Fusion card is still installed in my computer, but coax from cable and antenna are connected to the HomeRun.

Another anomaly I've noticed is that often, when I am about to conclude a configuration session, I get a warning message that recording is currently in progress and will be aborted. I have not yet even discovered a button to initiate recording (as mentioned in preceding post). I have only channel up, channel down, pause, and an exit button which appear in a gray overlay where it looks like there is "room" for several additional buttons (such as FF, RW, REC, etc.) - so I assume this reference is to recording of the pause buffer, even though I have exited the Live TV window.

For the majority of users, recordings are usually initiated from the TV Guide, with the user scheduling one-off or season recordings.

In the default configuration has live tv used in 'live preview mode', where no buffering is performed. When no buffering is performed, there is options to skip back or forward in the stream, or record.

You can disable live preview mode, but you'll have slower channel changes.

Back to Square 1 (or perhaps -1). Despairing that I could ever get GB-PVR to work w/o stuttering and with FF and RW, etc., I jumped ship and attempted to go the Linux/MythTV route, as MythTV is optimised for use with HDHomeRun. Sorry about that. Three days later, tail between my legs, I've concluded there's just too much to learn (even with MythBuntu) about Linux simply to get a working networked PVR.:o So I uninstalled GB-PVR, uninstalled HDHomeRun, and rolled back Windows using a restore point immediately pre-dating both programs. Unfortunately, now I can no longer get HDHomeRun to setup on that computer (I am awaiting feedback from their support team).

Meanwhile, since HDHR is a network tuner, I decided to start from scratch on a different computer. HDHomeRun installed flawlessly, and, mysteriously - no, magically - seemed to grab channel lineups for both OTA and digital cable out of the ether, as it were. Encouraged, I proceded to install GB-PVR, confident I'd have an easier time of it this round. Sadly, not so. When I specify that I am using HDHR, it automatically shows up as a DVB-C tuner, with only non-USA countries to choose from. There seems to be no ATSC nor QAM option. When I attempt to update the EPG with my Schedules Direct account, it goes through the motions w/o error msg but presents no channels found. I'm beginning to think I losing my sanity. Is there hope?
