First command shows an error:

pi@NextPVRSVR:~ $ sudo rm /tmp/dotnet-install.sh
rm: cannot remove '/tmp/dotnet-install.sh': No such file or directory
pi@NextPVRSVR:~ $

That's fine, a reboot after an instal would have cleared it out I just wanted to be sure it wasn't there.

That all seems ok, I can't explain why there is nothing new in the log folder. Check dmesg and journalctl for any additional errors.

Sorry, nothing more I can do without logs especially with the status, stop and start all running

OK - not sure what dmesg and journalctl means exactly....

I did a search on dmesg and see 3 files all with timestamps of a few years back...

I did notice that when I was starting and stopping earlier I was getting a prompt stating that I needed permissions to do this. I had never seen that before. And I don't see it now.

One more thing....I noticed this log file that shows a reference to the error when trying to create the nextpvr user, as well as some other errors above at 19:27...

A sudo login is for period of time and expires that is normal

That log info is also normal.

Do you get anything to the screen with

curl -v http://localhost:8866

If not a more complicated test would be to try a command line run to see any errors that might show up.

Code:
sudo service nextpvr-service stop
sudo -u nextpvr  NEXTPVR_DATADIR_USERDATA=/var/opt/nextpvr/ /opt/nextpvr/system/NextPVRServer.dll

Hi Martin,

Just ran the connection - says connection refused:

pi@NextPVRSVR:~ $ curl -v http://localhost:8866
* Trying ::1:8866...
* connect to ::1 port 8866 failed: Connection refused
* Trying 127.0.0.1:8866...
* connect to 127.0.0.1 port 8866 failed: Connection refused
* Failed to connect to localhost port 8866: Connection refused
* Closing connection 0
curl: (7) Failed to connect to localhost port 8866: Connection refused
pi@NextPVRSVR:~ $

Feels almost like a permissions issue?

Is the second set of code you provided a proper next step?
