my HVR-1300 showed up automatically. try selecting 'only show detected hardware' and it should then only give you the option of NovaT (a.k.a the digital part of your HVR1300)

Hi,

Thanks for the reply - I've just removed the HVR 1300 and restarted Windows XP and it re-installed correctly but there is still no option on GBPVR for the Nova-T (also not there when I select 'only on this machine' option).

I'm currently installing the latest version of GBPVR to see if this helps - fingers crossed!

Cheers,

pondlife.

I'm 97.7, and it's been plug-n-play all the way for the DVB-T part of the card Smile, but you may have to do some tweeking to get the analogue side working... http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=16374.
Are you selecting BDA as the capture source for the DVB side of the card?

Hi Fuzzweed,

Still not there although it's now reporting the analogue option... :-(

Is there something I have to set-up on the playback before I do the capture card?

I'm running Win XP and not MCE would this make any difference? Do you have to install specific drivers?

Thanks,

pondlife

Hi,

I've found it - or more correctly my Dad found it - he found it under the BDA setting where you have to drill down on to the next window - looking good. We're currently updating the channel mapping.. Hurrah! :-)

Thanks,

Hi,

sub Wrote:With the most recent release, the analog and digital parts of the HVR-1300 are treated as the same card, meaning you cant schedule two recordings at the same time, one on each.
Just for clarification (as I'm thinking about buying this card):
Is it not possible to use the two tuners (DVB-T and analog) of the HVR-1300 at the same time? Or was that only related to the release in june and works different now?

Thanks,

This device has only got one tuner, so you can only do either an analog or digital recording, not both at the same time.

In earlier releases, GB-PVR was not able to tell the the digital capture source and the analog capture source needed to be mutually exclusive. Logic was added to cope with this in v0.96 or something like that.

When reading about so called "combo" (Analogue and Digital), I read something that MS's MCE doesn't support this simultaneously. I'm not sure about truth in it. In any case the HVR-1300 and ATI650 are both disappointing in this respect, that yoy can watch Digital OR analogue using the one card.

Is there a card that has BOTH i.e a TRUE "Dual Tuner". like the PVR-500 or NVIDIA Dual Tuner, but with 1 of each (D/A) rather than both analogue.

k.

I'd like to clarify something here, as there are two issues.

The first concerns the physical hardware of hybrid cards. There is a single hybrid tuner (Philips FMD1216ME on the HVR-1100/1300) that handles either analogue or digital. The tuner can switch between analogue and digital as soon as the software requests it, but they cannot do both analogue and digital at the same time (here, "time" is actual time). I have noticed a few dual-tuner hybrids coming on the market in the past few weeks. These have two hybrid tuners, allowing either DVB+DVB, Analogue+Analogue or DVB+Analogue (simultaneously).

The second issue is a limitation of MCE, and doesn't concern simultaneous use, but configuration states. Even if you have two cards - one analogue and one digital (or two hybrids) you will not be able to use analogue and digital at the same "time". Here, "time" relates to a particular configuration state of the system - if you want to switch from viewing analogue channels to viewing digital, you must delete all channels from the MCE Guide, rescan from scratch and re-setup the EPG. Annoying? Very. That is just another reason GB-PVR is so much better than Media Center.
