tkgafs Wrote:Sub,

here are my logs and ip settings,

the fault I seem to have is random disconnections sometimes after very short periods or sometimes the mvp will play for many hours.

In this particular case I was playing music using musiclibrary2 plugin and had been for about 6 hours when the disconnection happened,

My gbpvr server is also the family PC, the dhcp server is a linux firewall.

There does not seem to be any correlation between activity on the gbpvr server and the failures, it just appears to disconnect for no obvious reason. There is nothing in the event logs with a similar date stamp.

I am running 97.9 but a patch version you issued a few days ago, it reports its assembly version as 1.0.2351.33091, you issued it to try and correct the time taken to load the tv guide at startup.

I was previously running 96.12 which was very stable

Let me know if you want me to increase logging level
Sorry tkgafs, but that error is unrelated. This thread is really about those that cant boot their MVP. I'm happy to look at your error too, but you'd need to reproduce it with the logging level set to Debug, and post it in a new thread.

rhodesc Wrote:I am also having problems with MVP and 97.9 I have a rev H model or the MVP is that part of the problem?

I can get it to the loading application screen then it hangs at that point.
Post your gbpvr.exe.log and the output of "ipconfig /all" and I'll take a look.

Hi sub

I have captured the startup with my mvp connected to the D-link switch(and ADSL modem) and connected directly to a D-link NIC with crossed cable using Ethereal. In all cases the IP address is provided by dhcpd32 (192.168.0.151).

As far as I can see the problem is that GBPVR responds to the broadcast from the MVP, but the respons does not reach the MVP (or the MVP does not respond).

This is what I think it should look like:
MVP:16868 -----> 255.255.255.255:16867
MVP:16868 <----- GBPVR:16867
MVP:3909 -----> GBPVR:16869
MVP:3909 <----- GBPVR:16869
.
.

But I get

MVP:16868 -----> 255.255.255.255:16867
MVP:16868 <----- GBPVR:16867
and nothing more when I use direct connection to the NIC

But before the MVP gets the IP address it makes two
MVP:16868 -----> 255.255.255.255:16867 with IP address 0.0.0.0. Could that cause a problem?

I have posted the captured Ethereal data, please tell me if I should capture data in some other way.

Can you post an ethereal log of the Hauppauge MVP software booting on your machine so I can compare?

Cheers.

Did the Hauppauge software actually manage to boot the MVP? It doesnt look like it in the Ethereal log.

Yes. I watched some video, so it really does work. I cut the log in order to make it uploadable. Forgott to mention that :o

It must be possible to filter the data, but this is the first time I used ethereal. Tell me if you want the whole log, and I will try to filter.

Hmmmm?

The upload fails with this message: There seems to have been a problem with the GB-PVR Forums database.

I got this before, so thats why I cut the logs before.
