Hi guys,

I know very little about GBPVR, but I've got two DMB-T USB devices working fine with SageTV. Sage doesn't support DMB-T either, but I believe they emulate DVB-T as a few ppl have mentioned. I just set them up as if they were DVB-T devices and everything worked, including channel scanning. The only thing I needed to do first was enter the HK frequencies/bandwidth in the file the program uses for channel scanning.

FYI, the two products are the Hauppauge and Avermedia (DMB-T/H only version, there's a combined DMB/DVB-T also).

Hmmm.. Do you have copy of those frequencies bhk or are they sthe same as analog?

Sub, should scan just work or do we need to add these?

It depends if those frequencies are in those scanned or not. You can see the frequencies scanned by looking at the files in c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr\bda\dvb-t.

You can find details of the frequencies in use on wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_tel..._Hong_Kong) or on the goverment's digital tv site. My building only receives the 4 simulcast channels (pearl/world/home/jade), which are all transmitted on 482MHz with 8MHz bandwidth. I believe the other initial frequencies are 586,602,682,802MHz.

Here's what I add to SageTV. I don't know what the tune/pat/sdt parameters are for, but I just used the same values as listed for Singapore.
----------------
"Hong Kong SAR"
frq:482000000;band:8;
frq:586000000;band:8;
frq:602000000;band:8;
frq:682000000;band:8;
frq:802000000;band:8;
{tune:1;pat:8;sdt:18;}
----------------

A couple of additional points:
- the simulcast channels are broadcast in MPEG2 vs H.264 for the other channels, so I'm yet to test H.264
- all of this is based on the initial transmitter (Temple Hill) - I believe the new transmitters coming online this month and next will likely use different frequencies. Details of the schedule can be found at http://www.digitaltv.gov.hk/general/pdf/coverage.pdf

best of luck, let me know if you need any additional info.

Thanks bhk, appreciate the feedback. I did eventually locate that wikipedia page but I thought there may have been some odd "offset frequencies" for various areas like there were when I was setting up the frequencies for the analog feed a few years ago.

I did do a search using the GoHK website for my area (Clearwater Bay but at the Sai Kung end) and while "some" of the houses got reception lower down, others higher up (like me) did not. I guess I was hoping for some fine tuning :-). I think (unforunately) I am just to the East of the light blue banana-shaped area ... so much for Digital Tele by the Olympics Sad

That distribution map after August threw me a bit too as I had seen the table below it which gives slightly different (earlier) dates. There's always going to be overlap, but the have ovelapped the red & yellow area which covers Kowloon, but the majority of is it in the sea ... add the purple and those fisherman have great reception... Big Grin

Thanks again bhk, I guess I'll just have to hold out!

k.

Based on this http://www.ofta.gov.hk/en/freq-spec/tvbnet.pdf

I have updated the Hong Kong frequencies as attached.

;Position = Channelname,Frequency(KHz),Inversion(0,1),0,Bandwidth (7MHz=1, 8MHz=2)
0=12
1=C22,482000,1,0,8
2=C26,514000,1,0,8
3=C28,530000,1,0,8
4=C30,546000,1,0,8
5=C32,562000,1,0,8
