I cannot get this program to work with my MCE remote for the life of me! It just will not respond at all to any command from my remote. I can't even tell if it knows that I have a remote and receive hooked up to this computer? Any ideas?

Did you apply the regedit fix for the ehome driver to disable focus? It's the hack to disable the ehome driver.

Also, did you import the xml file provided on the wiki?

The first thing I did was apply the regedit fix, and that was the first time that I found it didn't work. I later reinstalled the MCE receiver to undo the regedit fix. Neither time allowed it to work.

I also imported the XML file to similar results. Though, that wasn't the problem. No matter whether I used imported settings or tried to create my own, nothing worked. In fact, It wouldn't even allow my to learn IR commands or use codes that I supplied because it simply didn't appear to recognize the receiver!

I might try the regedit fix again, but is this the problem that it fixes? As I understood from my readings, you apply the registry fix to prevent other problems. You don't necessarily do it to allow it to work, or have I misunderstood this?

Sure enough, after installing the Replacement Driver it works great.

This is really an awesome program! Definitely the best remote software I've seen yet. Very versatile, very powerful, yet extremely intuitive and easy to learn. I actually had fun playing around with this thing, as opposed to messing with HIP where I wanted to rip my hair out every time I opened it up. I intially wanted this for an MCE remote on my second system, but I will probably install this and use it along with my Hauppauge remote to expand its capability on my main system!

I'm happy you figured it out, although you didn't have to install the replacement driver. The regedit fix is suppose to allow the ehome driver to act just like the replacement driver. The benefit is that you don't have to install a thirdparty driver just to get your remote to work.

But cheers to you and enjoy.

I have uploaded an updated config to which the volume up and down buttons should now work in most situationsCool. It uses the keys {ADD} and {SUBTRACT} keys to control the volume. For the updated config file, refer to original message in this thread http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=33633

There is one other thing that will prevent me from using the IR server (although, it is really great)

When I'm in Live TV, and I want to view channel 11, for example, the remote sends out two '1' . Eventghost had this problem too, until it got a cache or buffer or something that would store all the keys pressed and then send the combined string...

Example {1}{1} is different then {11}

Anyway, I'm too busy to go straight to that forum with this. I'll keep watching and see if there's a fix. Until then I'll use HIP

I used to ask 'why?' Now I just reinstall...
