heres a sneak peak of whats to come, ive renamed it to "Videos" (removed the "My" from it - its a complete rewrite, and upgrades wont be supported)
each folder/file/dvd/whatever can have a custom background (which can be automatically downloaded, all the ones shown were)

Looks great.
Maybe an idea for the future. Make an option for the background picture to be like a watermark (washout). That way the background picture is not that overwhelming (sorry if I typed it wrong). Sometimes a background pictures makes it to much so you can not read the text in the foreground. This especially happens on a MVP and a CRT TV.
Looks fantastic, I'm really looking forward to playing with it.
(At first, I didn;t notice that glowing thing between Kevin Space's fingers. I though he was just giving us the double-barreled salute). [edit]: I agree with -=TJ=-Stefan, on my 28" CRT and my wifes poor eyesight,, I need a dark flat background for dealing with small text such as that shown in pic #2.

Agree with previous speakers. Looks really cool.

Also, the background images Reven is using for "Unselected" items has quite a bit of transparency. That is a skinning element that can be changed in blue or using different images with a skin like the CommunitySkin so I wouldn't get hung up about the text just yet.

for the background you could just draw another image above the @Background image, which is darker and semi transparent (that would darken the background).
ive been using DrawTextWithOutline on pretty much everything which makes it easy to read (well i find it easy to read). not sure when it will be ready, still need an onscreen keyboard, and a few other controls. and i would have to do an installer (it also currently supports sql server and sqlce). oh and i still have to clean up the skin (the "down" button on the "sort" menu button needs to change, i just had that image laying around) |
