Oh well, I know it's impossible to troubleshoot something you can't duplicate.
Does it work fine when you set the text size to 100%?

Hello All,

I too have the same "EPG partial screen" issue on my Windows Desktop machine. I'm running NextPVR 3.9.2 under Windows 7 64-bit with all of the Microsoft updates applied. I tried all three of Sub's patches (two in Dec '16 and one in Jan '17) and as all of you've who've tried them have experienced, they didn't fix the root issue.

Additionally, I discovered and tried the .exe within NextPVR.zip found in the 3.9.2 installation folder root - that exe was circa 2015 and it did indeed allow the EPG to fit completely (that's with my -20% UI zoom setting still applied). However, this circa 2015 .exe also brought back the "DirectX not found" issue. Because that exe is so old, I restored and continue to use the newer 3.9.2 .exe to avoid encountering any "new" issues.

Now, changing the Windows OS text size back to the default 100% isn't a valid option for those of using a larger percentage - we are doing so for legibility of other applications besides NextPVR. Changing the text back to 100% solely for NextPVR, thereby shrinking every other application and icon's text to illegibility isn't the answer.

Sub has yet to duplicate this EPG sizing issue, but I'm confident the root issue will eventually come to light and be fully resolved.

However, in the interim can I suggest that a patch be released to allow the "UI Zoom Percent" value found under the "General" settings tab to be dropped to below -20%?

As others have previously stated, it is true that a UI Zoom setting value of -20% (and X:-10 Y:-5) "almost" fixes the problem. However -20% is currently the lower limit of that setting in v3.9.2. I'd venture that if a patch were to be made available that would allow us to set the UI Zoom Percent somewhere between -22% and -35%, the EPG sizing issue would be resolved for all of us using a WinOS text size > 100%. If it is easy to do, please consider making this patch available to us in this interim period.

Whelp, this is odd. I opened nextPVR today and the program (menu with blue background) was suddenly smaller (the rest was black). I closed it and re-opened it and it was still smaller. I rebooted and tried again and still, smaller. I went into settings and changed my zoom and x/y offsets back to zero (they were previously set to compensate for too much zoom with 125% display setting) (EDIT: setting the zoom/offsets back to zero made the program fully fill the display). I checked my DPI setting and it was still at 125%. The problem magically fixed itself.

I didn't do any updates or driver changes. I have windows updates disabled (damn telemetry). I have no idea how this was fixed. I'm pretty sure I did open nextPVR within the last week and the problem of over-zoom was still present. I'll update if it returns.

Attached are logs from after I noticed the problem was fixed and before I changed the zoom/offset settings back to zero. I'll probably delete them in a few days for privacy.

I think a number of different issues have crept into this thread. Not all the contributors are referring to the same issue imho.

1) I have an issue with my LG tv or maybe its not an issue and that is supposed to be. If I want to see the full screen of my Acer HTPC I need to use my TV remote control and choose an aspect ratio of JUST SCAN. If I use 16:9 the edges of the image are cut off.

2) I feel there is an issue in 3.9.2 with switching back and forth between windowed and full screen mode. Usually I find that I cannot properly return to full screen mode without eventually exiting and restarting NPVR. If I dont - I end up having to watch a letter boxed version of my full screen. I think it gets confused when you go to windowed and then you eventually click the maximize window icon in the top right corner by the X. From there it just gets ugly and exiting is the only solution.

3) There is no great solution for people that feel the type face is too small on their HD tvs and getting a 4K tv just makes it real bad because what you have bought is pretty well 4 "old" 1080P TV screens jammed into 1 image. So unless your new screen has 4 times the surface area of your old screen you are gonna watch tiny perfect typefaces. (Bet you the salesman never explained it that way) While windows has settings as SUB said to make your typeface larger the result is not exactly what you expect. The best solution I have found to be able to read typefaces and web pages like say http://www.titantv.com would be to set my HTPC screen resolution to 720P and then fiddle with the windows text size. Yes I know it seems like a waste to have a bought a 1080P TV or better and then turn down the res but I have yet to hear of a better solution.

Just my experiences.

I just re-read through all the posts. It appears to me they all are describing the same issue I had. The OP screen shot is exactly what I was seeing (but without the windows border). Most discuss switching between window/full screen mode. I don't do that; the only time I did try windowed was when I originally saw the problem; I always use fullscreen. Sometimes I do use Win-M or Alt-Tab to minimize or switch to a different program while nextPVR is running in fullscreen mode. To address your points:
1) This is much more than edges being cut off or common TV-caused overscan. This is evidenced by the description that a click on one menu registers at a different location.
2) Switching between full screen and window mode may bring out the problem but I don't believe it is the cause of it. A couple of us had this problem on fresh install, first run.
3) Changing DPI is a very common and great solution to high resolution displays. (Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Display; set to > than 100%). It tells windows and applications: what you used to display in 10 x 10 pixels, now display it in 15 x 15 pixels. The reason this is preferable to your solution is because when you watch a movie, the movie is actually displayed a 1080p or 4K instead of your chosen 720p.

I don't actually have this problem due to going permanently back to Win 8.1 due to constant sound problems with Win 10 -

BUT has anyone tried using "Override high DPI scaling behaviour" in Nextpvr Properties Compatibility Tab ? Probably needs to be set to Scaling performed by - System.

I've had to use it on a Database program that hasn't been updated since XP but is still in use.
It's not an overly complicated system - it's more - overly simple operatives  Huh

Yes, this selection has been tried with variable success; posts #24-26 talked about it. I gave it a try in various forms when I first had the problem but saw no difference. It may be that Windows is improperly detecting something about the program and automatically disabling scaling then trying to do its own scaling (DPI Virtualization). This link has some info on that:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help...i-displays

Quote:For applications that do not scale correctly for use on high-DPI displays, Windows enables a feature that is known as DPI Virtualization. This enables the application to run as if it were on a lower-DPI display. Windows will then scale up the application's graphical display appropriately so that it is shown at the appropriate visual size for the high-DPI display. However, this has the side effect that the application's text and graphics will not be as crisp and clear as an application that is natively rendering its output for use on a high-DPI display.

Microsoft has had problems with high DPI displays for a long time, especially for legacy apps built on Win32. Windows Creator has made improvements to help older apps but the long term solution is to move the app to modern frameworks. See this article:http://www.anandtech.com/show/11287/the-...te-arrives and go to the section titled: High DPI changes.
