I forgot to mention that I also installed the one mentioned in that post - still nothing shows up.

EDIT: Spoke too soon, I forgot to register the files contained in AutoDVRconvert. After registering, I do see the Cyberlink MUX.

Hi, forgive me if this is a dumb question - or if I posted in the wrong place (I'm still new to all this stuff).

I have an HVR-1300 and I am having a pig of a time getting it to work right:-

If I select the cyberlink mux on the misc tab I create choppy recordings that jump all over the place. Running MUX checker gives:

GB-PVR has detected the following multiplex filters on your machine:

Found: CyberLink MPEG Muxer
FILE: C:\Program Files\Dell\Media Experience\Video\PDMpgMux.ax
VERSION: 3.5.0107

Now I gather that this is ancient, but how do I get a newer one? Do I need to buy a package from Cyberlink?? If so what is recommended.

Alternatively I can record using MS-DVR. This results in files that I can play on the PC (perfectly) but my MVP box (Dongle_25_24023b.BIN) just says 'Internal error in transcoder'.

I'm so close to getting this really cool system working - but keep tripping over my own ignorance. Can anyone guide me in the right direction please??

That version of the Cyberlink mux is really old. Use the forum search feature to find a download location. Many people end up extracting it from a download on the Twinhan site.

Hi thanks for the pointer towards Twinhan as a source for thmpgmux.ax, however after downloading numerous packages I can't find any that contain this file.

Searching on Google just comes back with the GBPVR thread you already gave me.

Can anyone point me me more precisely in the right direction for a suitable mux?

Another thought:- the WinTV software that came with the HVR-1300 produces perfect mpg recordings - does this mean that it is using another mux that GBPVR can't find??

Hi Sub,

Just thought I would give you an update on the problems that I had with recording / Timeshift Mode. I tried an earlier version of the Cyberlink Mux and still got choppy video / audio when trying to record or going into Timeshift mode. I then installed the NativeUtilities update. This did not help the Cyberlink Mux. However, when I changed to DVR-MS (with this patch), everything worked great. Then I tried the Cyberlink mux that is included with the drivers on the Twinham site. As advertised, it was version 5.0.2022. This mux also causes choppy video when recording or during Timeshift mode.

I have not tried going back to the original NativeUtilities.dll - should this be necessary to use the Cyberlink Mux? Any other ideas why this may not be working correctly?

Terry

By the way, I have a DVICO Fusion Gild Plus, nVidia 6600, ATSC, PureVideo

From what I've heard, the Cyberlink doesnt work as well with ATSC as it does with DVB. I'm not in a country that uses ATSC, so its not something I've ever tried. You may need to stick with the Microsoft DVR-MS mux if thats the only option that works well for you.

A couple of things though....

If you have multiple versions of the Cyberlink mux filter installed on your machine, it'll use the first one shown by MuxChecker, so make sure its using the one you expect.

One more thing you could try though is recording to DVR-MS, but setting it to auto convert .DVR-MS to .MPG. In the start time setting, there is an 'ASAP' setting which will cause it to do this immediately after the recording completes. This may behave slightly better than trying to go straight to MPG because the DVR-MS container provides a more robust source of media timestamps than the original broadcast.

Thanks,

I did remember to unregister the old version of the Cyberlink mux, so that was not the problem. I will try the auto-convert feature that you mentioned.

Hi there, thanks for the pointers. But I've not got it going yet:

After thrashing around a bit I downloaded Cyberlink's Power Cinema and installed it on the free trial. During the install it insisted on removing Dell's media player thing. When it did this it must have also removed the ancient Cyberlink mux I had as it no longer appears if I run BDA mux checker:

NO MULTIPLEXER FILTERS WHERE FOUND ON YOUR MACHINE.

GB-PVR will not function correctly unless you have WinXP SP1 or higher, which has a built-in DVR-MS mux filter.

So despite having downloaded and installed Power Cinema I now have no Mux at all?! Poking around in the Cyberlink directory I have found:

PCMRMpgMux.ax

I imagine GBPVR can't find it because it is not registered - but I need a little bit more help than a one liner saying:

regsvr32 PCMRMpgMux.ax

Cos' I don't know what that means?!

Sorry for being a pain - this has become something of a mission

When you look at the properties of this file, what version does it say it is. I've never heard of the Cyberlink mux having that exact name. Its usually either THMpgMux.ax or MpgMux.ax

I dont really know what more you need. Click the windows 'Start' button, select 'Run...', type "regsvr32 c:\path\to\PCMRMpgMux.ax", then press enter.

[EDIT]

Hold on - got it to register but not sure what it is...

Hi Sub,
Thanks for your patience (which must be wearing thin). I had problems with the instruction above originally because all this stuff was in C:\Program Files\.... and the command line can't cope with file names with spaces?! I moved the file to another path and ran the regsvr32 and got a message 'DllRegisterServer in C:\GBPVR\system\PCMRMpgMux.ax suceeded'

However when I run the BDA mux checker it still can't find it.

Anything else I'm doing wrong? I'm only guessing that PCMRMpgMux.ax
is a BDA mux?

Sorry to be a pain, but this has become a mission - I've spent too many hours on this to give up now!

Cheers... Martin
