You seriously need to do this:
In windows explorer, hit "tools"->folder options->view and uncheck "hide extensions fr known file types". How can you live with not having done that? ;-) After that you click "apply to all folders" so that it's valid for.. all folders =)

It installed right last time

it lost up until the11th when it update the epg on its own

It doesnt delete any show listings from the database when it updates the EPG, so I'd be surprised.

i was trying to get it to download the entire epg everytime
so that if there were changes in the epg i would know about it
