(popping in here) probally been covered... but one thing I caught was you were able to watch a video fine.. but the OSD had those lines you are talking about.. .

Wouldnt this be caused by a rendering issue? Codec or something in the MVP rendering??

Just a thought... I know I would be crazy upset if I was in your shoes tho...

Have you eliminated the MVP ??? Connected to other video monitor.. etc??
Have you tried Smaller images... (so rendering would be 1:1) instead of fullscreen onscale...

(the fact that the Hauppauge software looks clean also seems to be a rendering problem... I would really look into changing those settings... )
but I am just a lurker... Smile

I cant tell from your screenshot, is the pattern very uniform? ie, is it like every second vertical column of the 720x576 screen?

Do these lines also have picture in them, or is it a solid colour? ie, if it is every second column and they both seem to be genuinely showing part of the picture, but with a slightly different colour characteristics, then I might have something you can try.

In reference to my questions above...

Every second pixel used a trick to do the RGB to YUV colour space conversion a bit quicker than a regular conversion requiring lots of maths, so there is the slightest possibility the colour was slightly off. This has been unchanged in nearly three years and we've never had another comment about it, and I cant see the slightest sign of it on any of my TVs or monitors, but its possible your TV is highlighting this difference for some odd reason.

I've attached a patch to try that calculates the colour space conversion for every pixel.

Thanks for the mod, sub, but it made no difference. The lines in the left pic are pretty accurate. There is a brighter vertical pixel line about every third pixel. But also notice that there is a 'good' band between each 'bad' band in a uniform pattern.

This panel has 1024 X 768 pixels or 3,072 X 768 dots to quote the manual if that is of relevance.

Sniper, will try other codecs but at the moment it is being used to watch a cricket game!

Thanks all.

Sorry, I'm pretty much out of ideas. Given you're the only person to have reported anything like this, I'd think its your TV causing it. I could be wrong though.

Thanks, sub.

For info, I loaded up the MediaMVP software and it was no problem at all. No sign of the lines. So I think we can deduce that it is not the MVP per se. I guess there has to be an answer but it sure looks elusive. The only thing that has changed it at all is cranking up the noise filters to strong. This ameliorates the effect a little (probably blurs it!).

Also set renderer to Overlay - no diff.

Thanks everyone for help. Still open to suggestions but getting that hopeless feeling!!

I've emailed Hauppauge to ask if they can provide any insights.

No worries. Unfortunately I'm going away tomorrow for most of week, so I may not have an answer back from them in a hurry.
