Ok I have the 2250 as well and i have it setup and working on the analog channels with all of the ini changes etc. when i scan for digital channels however i get zero strength on all of them. Should i be coming from the back of the cable box? or do i need a signal booster? Just one quick response to the previous comments. If the software isnt what you are looking for then dont use it. You can pay for other software that i have found to be less robust than this. Thats all!!! thanks in advance for any help on this.

You should be coming directly from the wall to the tuner card (not counting any splitters), not from the cable box to the tuner card.

Also try running ReRegisterFilters.bat. If you're on Vista, you'd need to start a command prompt with 'run as administrator', then run it from there.

thanks sub i tried that and still have zero. I read somewhere that they had an issue similar to this with media center and it required a signal booster to bring the channels in. If anyone has any other suggestions i'm open. One other question..should i pick an epg for the digital or not and when i set it up in schedules direct should i choose the digital lineup or analog?? i cant get any of the channels above 99 on the tuner however on the tv i get numbers in the 900 range. As you can tell im a lttle inexperienced in the digital tv realm.

Reproduce the problem, then zip and attach the config.exe.log and config.exe-native.log and I'll take a look.

Mugs,

Try using the Hauppauge provided software (I assume its WINTV or something) first to do the QAM scan. If you cannot get the WIN-TV to find the QAM signals then you might want to get a booster. I'm assuming that you have put a HDTV on the line and it is getting QAM signals?

In your EPG use the analog lineup if you plugging the cable directly into your 2250. You won't get the digital because its encrypted. The only way to get the digital is to use your cable box to decode, connect the output of the box to your 2250, and then use a blaster to change channels. If you are plugging in a digital only cable line into your 2250, that may explain why you aren't getting anything. My cable system has two cables one digital and one analog. One can only use the analog to get clear QAM.

You won't get any channels in the 900 range. That is a number that is mapped by your cable box.

QAM channels can only be in the 2-158 physical channel range (most usually in the 70+ range). Each of those physical channels can have multiple programs (virtual channels). Those will have a number like 70.1 or 70-1 depending on how it is displayed. Cable STBs can then map those channels to any "channel" number designated by your cable company which is why you see channel numbers in the 900 range.

Nichodeamus thanks for the post commenting on the performance of the 2250 card. I hope it will be for sale soon on newegg.

Just to point out, I purchased a dual HDTV tuner card from Divco FusionHDTV7 express dual. The hardware was great and tuned all my channels in analog, HD over the air and Clear QAM. The software was functional, but crashed my computer hourly, to the point the company software or drivers where un-usable. (customer support was wothless). The SUB on GBPVR provides a much better service for free and timely too. The card did work well with GBPVR for HDTV over the air. Analog did not work because the card did not have a built in MPEG encoder (hardware). With all my problems, I returned the card and waited for the 2250 because it should work with GBPVR. The only other card that looks worth a darn is the ATI 650 pcie, but then again I am not sure the clear QAM will work yet on GBPVR.

All reviews state that the manufactures software sucks. The only reason why we need to set up a Home Theater PVR is because the entertainment industry in the US (Movie Industry) has restricted us from have functional HD DVR's in the USA. The have them in Europe. I have a Panasonic 250 Gig DVR that works great, but it is analog. We want to record our HDTV in the USA, but we are restricted to do so and are forced to pay monthly fees to have a DVR with the cable, satilite or TVIO. I want to record my free TV for free and if I want to burn it to a DVD or Blue ray. I agree it would be nice to have a PVR software that works well for our daily needs, better yet allow us in the USA to buy a stand alone HD DVR like our friends in Europe. Do you remember when TV and radio were free and free to record? Remember this when it is time to Vote. Vote for government that restricts us or gives us freedom?
