Not sure if there has been any implementation of info lookups (from imdb, thetvdb, etc) yet, but if not, and if that is something you're looking to put in, might I suggest using XBMC's scraper engine if possible. I'm sure I have read somewhere that others have used their engine to do all the scraping for their apps. Although I can't recall where...
If I do remember, I will report back.
anywayz, it's looking great!

already done and committed to the gbpvrlibrary open source project.
currently it supports imdb, themoviedb.org (really good for posters/backgrounds), and thetvdb (this is a special case, the api for it isnt "scrapper" friendly). its designed so all scrappers can be added/configured from a xml file. all the infor in the screenshots were grabbed from imdb/themoviedb and tvdb

That's awesome! Thanks for putting all the work into this. Definitely going to make gbpvr that much better in the Visual Experience side of things.
Keep up the awesome work Big Grin

Any chance of implimenting some form of DVD ripper as well? I use the old DVDRipper (which is no longer being maintained by the looks of it). If this was also in there it would make things a lot simpler.

I typically just rip my DVD's as ISO's since I like maintaining the menu structure particularly for some of my music DVD's so I can view track lists etc.

Certainly looks fantastic - I can't wait to have a look!

it wont make it into the first release, want to concentrate on other areas (mostly just the gui) and make that solid, but dvd ripping should make it in down the road (nothing complex, just using dvddecrypter probably)

Does Videos maintain its own db of programmes for its designated folders?

I was wondering on the possibility to sort shows by show genre.
Then (for example) my kids can select "kids" shows and see all their tv irrespective of whether it is a current recording in the gbpvr db or an archive recording on another drive.

and and and and...

yeah it has its own database (it contains much more info that gbpvrs db (posters, wallpapers, cast/crew, genres etc)).
the first release will just be file based (no sorting by genre)

Paulskid Wrote:Wow, those screenshots look great! As a long time user of myVideo's I'm really looking forward to the new version - really apprecite you taking the time to do this. I've got one quick question, its a minor thing I've got a large collection spread over multiple drives - the myVideos used to let me specify one drive or directory for the media then have a text file with a .lnk extension pointing to the next drive etc. Will the new version work in a similar way?

Cheers,
Paul

the first release (which will be a closed alpha) probably wont include this, but i intend to add it back some time in the future (i know longer need this, i got myself a drobo Smile, so thats why its lower on the priority list)
