I can confirm that the TBS 6920 entry level single S2 tuner works fine. It was the cheapest I could find after the change to S2 of the BBC HD broadcasts in the UK was swiftly followed by the demise of the DVB-T side of my Pinnacle 7010ix (which was one of the best value gadgets I have ever bought!). Won't need a new standard DVB-T card before next summer, when the "switchover" finally reaches the depths of southeast England, so have a 3010ix for now.

My 7010x stopped working with DVB-T some time ago, but I found that changing the aerial over to the other socket brought it back to life!

I still don't know what to do ;( My main PVR has 5 PCI slots. My main PC for general use has 2 pci slots and 1 PCIe slot.
I see no reason to update the PVR yet, but don't want to buy tuners that won't fit a newer PC.
Now if there was only a PCIe to PCI converter......
the TBS 6984 is a bit pricey for me at the moment ....
Belmont starts it changeover in a few weeks

I had to feed my 7010ix a signal into both inputs to get it to work reliably.

It's been ditched now for 2 HVR-4400s, which are great apart from recordings picking up a momentary glitch whenever a channel change happens on either the other device or the other tuner on the same device (eg, changing channels on the DVB-T tuner while the DVB-S one is recording).

Anyone think of a UK available normal sized motherboard, probably socket 775 with 3 PCI slots and 3 PCIe slots, on board Gb ethernet and some video (not needed to be fancy as it will be a headless server). A serial port would be nice for my blaster as well.

You're right, and I have now posted an overdue thank you on their forums. The 6981 has been rock-solid for me, though I still use my trusty Hauppage 45-button remote and Iremote.ini to control it...

You mean like this? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6815158165

Or this if you want to go the other way? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6815158190

As with all such niche products the price is a bit high, but they do exist.

It looks as though we are going down the same hardware route once again, as we did with the S-350.

Do you still have a gbpvr build and did you get the card working in gbpvr?

I still have an MVP so have not looked into NPVR yet.

I do still use GBPVR as my main PVR software in the lounge, but have not tried the 6981 in it. I am not sure how to add the 6981 to the list of capture devices available in GBPVR config...

Yes Wink shortly after posting I thought I would have a look around and found some.
After all the trouble I have with little converter widgets though - like SD to SATA, IDE to SATA etc, I don't like experimenting any more!

The TBS-6984 looks very interesting, with 4 inputs. I will have to extend my PCIe slot on the mainboard as this is currently covered with the heatsink of the Nvidia GPU, but I can see extender cables on eBay for a few quid:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PCI-E-express-1X-R...2eaffe2626

Has anybody used these extenders with Digital TV cards as I suspect PCIe is not supposed to be extended too far from the CPU?

Will the 6984 work correctly in nPVR with all 4 inputs (on a quad LNB) for DVB-S2?

I dont think anybody has tried this device. If its like the other TBS devices, then it should work fine.
