Why is my average SPL always -99.00?
You can never have enough tuners!

That would seem to indicate that your audio is not being decoded. What are you recording off of? What settings do you use? What type of audio do your recordings have?

For those trying (and failing) to get to my website/forums today. They're back up after being completely redone.

After being so impressed with this forum's software, I decided to switch to vBulletin. Hopefully the board will be easier for y'all to use.

Thanks,
Jere

Hauppauge PVR-500.
Recordings have mp2 audio.
Haven't changed any reg settings or anything...actually, it's only a 3 day old completely fresh install of the card, drivers, and gbpvr...

Ok for those of us who don't know computer jargon, can we do a "dummy's guide to SA" i.e. what the heck is comskip proxy? What the heck is dirmon? WHy when i have sa running automatically does comskip run instead?
If you want to know why nPVR is the bomb, ask my wife!

There is now a bug tracker in the ShowAnalyzer forums. Please but any bugs that need my attention in there. That will help me not forget anyone.

I, of course, will continue to help regardless of which forum or site you use.

Hi ydekmekji,
You may have had those questions answered elsewhere in the forum, but:
  • comskip proxy: This is intended to simplify the replacement of comskip with showanalyzer - it's a program on Jere's site called comskip.exe, with which you replace your existing comskip.exe, so that programs which expect to find comskip will find that instead - it of course simply passes on the show information to ShowAnalyzer. (Note that this didn't work at first with the beta version, as you have to add a registry entry to let it know where ShowAnalyzer is - see: this forum post for the link)
  • dirmon: This is a program written by Jere which avoids using the post-processing.bat file, or in fact any pvr-related requests, but instead monitors a list of given directories for any new mpg files, then runs ShowAnalyzer on them automatically.
  • comskip still running: If comskip.exe is in your GBPVR root directory, then GBPVR will automatically run it on completed files - you can override this default behaviour with added parameters in the post-processing.bat file, but if you don't want comskip to run, your best bet is to move it out of the GBPVR directory while you are testing ShowAnalyzer.

Hope this helps,

cheers,

tieke

Just wanted to share my thoughts on SA..
It is absolutely amazing! After just a little bit of tweaking it now blocks out every single block of commercials with no false-positives at all. People, go send Jere some money because he truly deserves it!

Also, check out this sticky thread on the SA forum with settings that seems to work well. Successful settings

whenever i run 0.5.1 i dont get any commericals detected (well i tried to tweak it and if finally found one, but that was a preshow commerical (one that was at the begining of the recording) and didnt find anything else), comskip works better for me, and im to lazy to test it. so pretty much im just bitching Smile, ill post a log etc if you let me know how to test it etc. i do get crappy reception, but even so comskip works about 70-80% of the time. (yeah i know they are completely different programs, and commerical skipping is doing in acompletely different way).
