Jeff Wrote:Here is an update you can try. I have added a bit more debugging for the delete problems Nighwalker has been having and I have added a new parameter to the config section called, PendingRecordingsRefreshInterval which specifies the timer interval (in minutes, default 15) for checking the pending list.

Also, I added a new option filed to the RecordingInProgress composite image. @Message can be included in the image to display the name of the show being recorded and the stop time.

Jeff:

I've done a bit more testing today. i have one recording going now and another scheduled for right after that is done. It's been 10 minutes since the recording started and so far no update, but if you have a 15 minute default then i wouldn't expect it for another five minutes, It's also not showing the next recording yet, i assume that is tied to the same 15 miunte default.

I did notice something odd though

I've had the what's new setting unchecked with 0 for the days. The whats new folder only confuses my wife so what I'm really trying to do is get rid of it. Those setting did that, but that was when things got a little wacky. It was showing no new recordings. even in the standard recordings plug-in. I've changed that setting to 1 day, still leaving the what's new setting unchecked.

After doing that things seem to have evened out a bit. The VA is much more stable feeling, if that makes any sense. I had no idea that a setting in this plug-in would effect things globally through GBpvr. It seems it does.

The only problem with this is the what's new listing is back, showing just todays recordings, since i have 1 in the box. I guess what I'm asking here is what is the expected behavior of leaving the what's new unchecked. I expected it to not be there but checked or unchecked seems to have no effect. It seem to have more to do with the number of days you have it set to. 0 gets rid of it but seems to mess things up or at least makes the plug-in seem unstable, 1 just brings it back.

UPDATE at 14 minutes after the recording started the icon showed up on the main menu. and the upcoming updated to show what was really recording next.
I seem to recall in earlier versions that this was almost immediate as opposed to being delayed.

What happens to system resources if i set the PendingRecordingsRefreshInterval to 1 minute?

Sorry for the long post, i get carried away sometimes Smile

another update, I watched the recordings, the watched icon is showing as it should. I then deleted it. The file got deleted, however it's listing is still showing. If it's like before it'll disappear after a couple of opening and closings of VA. I'm happy to post more logs if you need.

Hi Jeff,

I just got my GBPVR system back up. I had to reformat and start all over. At least now I have a fresh perspective.

Right now I am running Blue. With no plugins, everything is fine. With the Video Archive plugin (and only VA), GBPVR.exe starts up, but after displaying the main menu for a few seconds it crashes with one of those system messages about sending an error report.

There is no problem indicated in GBPVR.exe.log, but your logs are interesting. I have zipped them up and attached them.

Best Regards,
Old Dog

Can you post or email me your config.xml file?

Thanks

Actually, I think I may know what the problem is. You have e:\pvr defined as your recording directory and as a videos directory. I don;t think I habdle this case. can you remove e:\pvr from the list of video directories defined for the plugin? It will automatically add your recordings directory for you. Let me know if this works.

Yes sir! I did have "E:\PVR" in the videos path. Removing it removed the problem as well. BTW, the version of VA dated 9/5/2006 handled this mistake.

I still anticipate the VA Panel update problem. I will watch for it tonight and save the logs for you. My observation is that the panel messages are updated when GBPVR starts up and while in, or leaving, Videos. It seems the periodic update is not happening. BTW, I will be modifying the update period to one minute, but would prefer to see the recording messages synchronized with the actual events.

Perhaps instead of doing an update every 15 minutes, you could poll recording status every 15 seconds or so. When the status changes then do an update.

Best Regards,
Old Dog

P.S. This log is still interesting...

What I'd really like is if GBPVR generated events when the recording schedule changed (something added to it, something removed from it, a recording starts). This may be on sub's todo list. It would make this more responsive and less CPU intensive.
