I know this isn't what most people want to hear but I definitely resolved this issue by simply uninstalling .97 and going to .96. With .97 this issue would happen on almost a daily basis. Sometimes it would go two EPG updates but then the third would have numerous channels and duplicates.

I have been with .96 for about four days now and I have done around 15 EPG updates and not a single issue with anything. I know that by now I could have recreated this issue with .97 by now.

A few questions for those having this problem...

1) are you in the US?

2) which EPG source are you using? zap2it, xmltv, other?

3) what database are you using? Access or SQLite?

Sub, I tried a lot of different combinations when I had it installed, but for what it's worth I'm in the US and had the problem using the native Zap2It plugin. Like the post above, it would work for a few days, then cause dupe channels.

For what it's worth, I'll share the logic behind the I-xmltv verification process.
Stick with me, the logs could help you isolate the problem.

After it downloads the first two-day listing, and any missing days. It reads the first downloaded file and looks for the </tv> xmltv EOF marker.
If it finds the marker, it reads the channel lineup into memory, and then verifies that all the other day.xml files have the same, letter for letter, line for line, channel listings.

If they do not, Problem=1, and the file is deleted and re-downloaded.
Yesterday, there was no problem even though valkokir received a notice that he had dupe channels. Because I have I-xmltv configured to -not- automatically add new channels to the guide. It only sends a "warning" that is displayed in the guide.

Today, I-xmltv found a channel lineup change in the header.
It appears that “xmltv –config” was not run, and that could only mean one thing. A channel was removed from the DD lineup, and the xmltv EPG file GBPVR loaded.
At this point, he had the duplicate channel issue.

Hope this helps.

Jim

This issue may be reproducible by simply removing a channel from the Zap2It lineup.

I've been having similar problems with the EPG beginning with 0.97.7; 0.97.9 seems to have the same issue.

I'm in the US, for what it's worth, using the native Zap2It plugin for EPG data. If it makes any difference, this is with the SoftwareRecorder plugin as well. I've found that if I don't clear out the EPG every few days, I run the risk of a BSOD.

I saw a post a bit ago suggesting that the problem could be caused by having channels excluded from the Zap2It lineup, which I had 2 explicitly disabled. I turned them back on, maybe I'll find out if the issues persist. In the meantime, since I'm using GB-PVR primarily as a TV tuner application more than anything, I suppose I'll either downgrade (though I've got no desire to run 0.91.8, the only other version I was able to find *anywhere* prior to the SoftwareRecorder plugin being functional again), or more likely, continue cleaning out the program guide on a regular basis.

I'm in the US

I am using XMLTV now, but was using Zap2it before with the same results (although XMLTV pulls from zap2it anyhow.)

RE which database: I assume access because its an MDB, I do not know how to change it to SQLite, I will if need be, I never go into the database and edit it.

I have a basic fresh install of GBPVR with the original skin and only the weather plugin running, recently started using I-XMLTV but the issue started before this.

I will be out of town for a week, unfortunately I had to shut off my box completely last night as I just don't have the time to deal with it right now and I don't want to come home to find it has crashed or has 9000 channels. It's the first time it's been off in about a year and a half. Moment of silence please...

I'm not sure if I completely understand your statement but I can tell you this issue has been reproduced on my setup with accepting my complete line up and changing the channels around in zap2it (i.e. removing some of them).

I thought by perhaps changing the source data this issue could be resolved but it coundn't. The only way I've found to resolve it is to go back to .96.

Hello,

I am having this same exact problem. The program keeps repeating new channels in my lineup. Right now, I have 600+ channels in a 100 channel lineup. I have a basic setup using zap2it in the United States. Nothing is excluded on my zap2it account and otherwise, I am just using default settings. I'm hoping we can find a solution for this, as this really takes away from the usability of the software.

Thanks!

Guess I'll drop back to 96.12 if I still have it on my system. Bummer.
