Did you try fixing the tags on the file Snooze sent you with mp3tag?

I really think MP3Tag is destroying them now and the ones I had I suspect where tagged bad previously.

Files that displayed properly before running MP3tag looked right. After I ran MP3Tag on them, they displayed the weird characters like I posted in the screenshot.

Maybe I try one of your files and see how it displays... then I will try MP3Tag on it and see what happens, and I will send it back to you?

I was able to fix them by just opening with mp3tag and saving, without really changing anything at all. At first I thought it was the comment that was doing it but after trying it again with just saving, nothing else it displayed fine. There are lots of taggers out there, I just happened on this one first and it worked. I would think any good tagger would do as well. I know WMP and ITune tags can be very messy compared to the ID3v2.x tag standards.

That explains a lot, My MP3Tag program is a couple of versions back. I never found a need to bother to update it. That explains why I was able to fix it here and you couldn't doing the same there.

I think the mystery is solved.

While we are waiting to see what happens... do I need to save files by the album folder... or can I grab a bunch of album folders and save them all at once?

Yep - that's cracked it - V2.44 was causing the problem here too - after I changed the option, saving the tags in V2.44 fixed it.

You can add a bunch of folders and ctrl-a selects all the files - so it looks like you can do it all at once, but I'd test that out on a copy of a couple of folders first...
