Here is what I get with the MainConcept decoder. This is the Hauppauge one included with the WinTV software.
Note the '~CC Out' pin.

I don't see anything like that.
Can you tell me the version of the WinTV.

All of the WinTV7 / WinTV8 versions use this same decoder.

sub,
I'm struggling trying to get the MC decoder installed. I have a WinTV V7 CD, but it won't install the software without the hardware. I can't seem to get my old WinTV-PVR 150 card installed in Windows 7. Haven't used it in years. I downloaded the latest software (for that card) from Hauppauge; WinTV 6 cd4.6b but I can't get that installed. According to the Hauppauge site, "A valid WinTV application CDROM will be needed to install this WinTV v6 version. Any WinTV-NOVA version 4x, WinTV-PVR, WinTV version 6 or WinTV v7 application CD can be used during the install" I tried several versions of WinTV CDs that I have and none of them will let me proceed. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong? Thanx.

Sorry, I don't know.

FWIW dept.
I've found that I can Google/locate and download the TVtime software for Kworld tuners. And, that it will install without having a tuner attached. And, that it includes a workable Cyberlink MPEG-2 decoder. It might be a simple solution for those that are looking for a free codec under Win-X. Been using it for a couple of months without any glitches...

I tried just renaming NPVRCCExtractor.ax to NPVRCCExtractor.ax.old and that appears to have fixed it but more testing is needed. What side-effects could renaming that file have? Incidentally I have the k-lite codec pack (I am using the MS decoders in nextpvr) and the media player classic has no problems with the same Idol episodes.

sub,
I finally figured out my problem and was successful loading the Hauppauge (HCW) MainConcept decoder from WinTV. In an effort to have the most clean, stripped-down, simplified installation, I built a spare PC from scratch, including WIN7. Then I installed 3.5.7. Most of the testing for CCs looks good, even though there are several that produce a garbled CC? However, I recorded a show from the History Channel that crashes the system whether or not CCs are turned on. I have included a 40 sec clip plus the log file; error finding the ~CC pin? https://www.dropbox.com/s/fi95fzho240ph3...ut.ts?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/cjo55ixq5cgh37p/NPVR.log?dl=0

It's the MainConcept decoder and Microsoft Line21 decoder that are taking care of this.
