you do not require the streaming server component for what we are doing here, just the client.

hm, I can watch recorded shows...

...but I can only watch a running recording up to the point when I connected to the show.

Does not look like You mentioned before. Do I have to make some specific setting in VLC?

really, damn. I'd better go and test this out for myself. I was sure that I had done this sucessfully.

back shortly.

sorry if I have led you to try something that plainly doesn;t work. I thought that this might be a quick win for you.

no problem.

I am ready to test every single chance...

If this does not work, I will try to create a streming server solution for gbpvr...

humm not looking good, it looks like you were right. I guess I never actually watched a live tv show through to the end. I played around with all the vlc settings that i could think of but as you say, it terminates when it get's to the point from which you start to watch the show.

this thread appears to confirm the problem (see thread #629)

sorry buddy, looks like you're going to have to try and get the gbpvr client works (which is what this thread was about I guess!)

just remember to back the devnz\gbpvr folder and also export recordings via the config.

:-(

Hey all,

I've coded up something I hope you guys will like and use..

a streaming solution; it's an add-on to the web interface. after you login, you can open the streaming page. You will need to have VLC installed on the server and the client. through the web page, you choose the recording you want and choose the desired bandwidth quality (150k, 500k, etc). Based on what you specify, your recording will be transcoded on-the-fly and streamed to you. everything is done on the web; it will spawn a player window that embeds the VLC client and you're ready to go.

stay tuned, i'm finishing it up and will post it soon. Smile (btw to sub in case you read this, i'd love to share this with you so that GBPVR can incorporate this in the future)

This sounds hopeful, now if we could get sub to add a feature that would force gbpvr to create a live recording file just like it does when streaming to the MVP then I guess it would be trivial for this web add on to stream live TV.
