Also, pretty expensive $$ ouch! (I got spoiled with the $80 internal cards, what can I say?)

I don't think there is an internal card - personally, I like that it's external - i imagine that encoding 1080i analog into H.264 uses alot of juice (and produces some heat). My rig only has a 250W power supply...

Since you've been testing one of these what can you tell us about using it with other Hauppauge IR receivers and blasters? I see that it has the IR receiver built into the box, and has it's own blaster. Since the remote seems to be the same this looks to be a problem.

First, is it even going to be possible to control more than one blaster in gbpvr? It's not today, correct? If so, I assume we'll only be able to have one receiver visible and gbpvr will have to figure out which blaster to activate.

Tell us it'll all be fine. Smile
My test unit didnt come with an IR Blaster, but I'm told the existing blaster interface will work with it, so the HaupBlast.exe channel changer should work fine.

I think that Hauppauge interface is limited to one blaster per machine, but you can use other blasters (MCE etc).

Grrr... do they use more than one of their own products? Don't they have enthusiast employee's that want to control more than one STB? Why can't they update the blaster interface to support more than one? !$%^&*#@!

Thanks for the info though. Smile

Im thinking of getting one of these and just have one concern. I currently have a HDHomeRun which can record my unencrypted channels. Say I schedule a recording of a 2-hour show on an unencrypted channel from 8pm-10pm. And then schedule a recording from 9pm-10pm on an encypted channel. Will GBPVR know not to use the HD PVR for the 8-10 recording and save it to record the encypted show from 9-10? Or will it just randomly select a tuner for the first recording?

If your encrypted premium channels are only enabled on the HD PVR capture source, then it'll always be used for those channels.

Thanks for quick response sub. I just wanted to cover all the bases before i decided to buy it. Also, I have never had a setup with a set top box. Will I have to map every digital channel like I did with the HDHomeRun? Im thinking that could take a while with a few hundred channels.

No, there is scanning step with a set top box. You just tell it what channels you have by entering your EPG information.

Sad If that's accurate, seeing as my account has not yet been charged, I guess I'm not in that first batch.

Anyone else see a charge yet?
