This update seems to be working fine on my machine as well. After reading the thread and going to the link on the page I figured out exactly which item needs to be downloaded to get the new version(at least for my setup).

Direct link to MS Patch containing the quartz.dll version 6.5.2600.2749 for XP SP2 is:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/detai...laylang=en

If you want to pick your poison here is the link to all the installs for various windows flavors and configurations (the one above is from the second bullet item):

I wish I could say that the patch above worked for me, but it didn't. I made sure that it DID replace my quartz.dll but unfortunately, i still got the judder. It didn't seem as often as it used to be, but still there. (I used your first link.)

I had to revert back to 6.5.1.902.
Anyone else is free to give it a shot, but please report back.

My software decoding works great... on WinTV2000. Better than GBPVR AND... better than WMP9. How do I determine which codecs are being used by WinTV2000? I looked all through the config and I couldn't find it.

Thanks.

WinTV2000 is using the intervideo codecs, guaranteed. They basically hard-code the app to use them rather than the merit system Windows uses.

Make sure it looks ok with movies. If you use NTSC and watch a film source (originally 24fps) it'll be jumpy during pans. That's what drove me up the wall with Intervideo, they don't do any kind of inverse-telecining.

The also use Overlay instead of VMR, which often produces a better picture.

There might be a simpler solution to some of your problem with jerky video. When ever I have had this in the past I found out that it was because my videos are fragmented. Since I have scheduled a defrag to run nightly it has solved these issues.

The jitter that is solved by the older quartz.dll is very different from slow disk access stuttering... It isn't "start and stop" kinda video like you're talking about. In fact there aren't any dropped frames at all, it actually looks like every few frames, one is displayed out of order.

I also had to go back to the older 6.5.1.902 as none of the newer versions mentioned cured my stutter using VMR.
