Does anyone use the remote control language selection feature found in Apperance Manager?

If so, are there any comments on the implementation?

I've updated the dutch language file 'cause some texts kept english and other ones were not to my satisfaction.
When you replace this file with the original one, toggle between another language and dutch at least once in the config app to get it working.

Some new translations for the german language. I saw, that the translations SOMETIMES are stupid, i'll work, but this will need much time.
From time to time i'll update this one.

PS: It's not neccessary to use german wordes like "Wollen Sie...? Möchten Sie...? Können Sie...", because no one wants to TALK to a program...

Like this: "Möchten Sie die Aufnahme abbrechen?", you can write simply: "Aufnahme abbrechen?" <- it's shorter and means the same ^^

I would like to see someone translate to Hebrew or Arabic and test the translation with the "Shalom" themepack for BaseSkin.

Just saw this thread now. Still interested in translating/testing Hebrew skin? (my mother's tongue).

If so, please tell me what to do in order to translate.

It would be interesting to see how a right to left language would work with the BaseSkin and the ThemePacks that I make.

Read the first post in this thread and download the Excel sheet in the GBPVR Translations.zip. There should be a Hebrew column there that can be translated.

Ok, d/l the XL file, translating into the HEB column now. There are few snags, as the context is sometimes unknown. For example (you'de have the same problem with German I believe): in Hebrew even an "it" (a noun) is either male/female. So sometimes I need to know (usually people would default to male, but it can sound funny, for example "recording" is a female...)

Also - almost 590 strings? it will take me some time. I with I knew which lines are the more common and visible. For example, the config app is less importnat that the normal day-to-day UI, no?

And, one last thing - if I want to see how it looks, what should I do to see it? assuming default Blue skin.

Start with translating the button texts.
Use the UNICode Macro and generate a language.xml into the GBPVR directory.
Start GBPVR with Blue or any skin......and you should see the translation.
I made a theme that I called Shalom for BaseSkin....that is more right to left text oriented.
You could try that theme and say what you think.

Ok, got few hours in it (I also don't have a Hebrew keyboard on this PC, makes it quite difficult!).

It seems to work (the right-2-left and the unicode). Attached is a image of the main menu, and the (unfinished) XL file.

I also noticed some texts that I could not see the source in the language XL file (e.g. "Sunny" in the weather, or "Photo Album" and all related buttons for the new internal photo viewer).

There is still much more work on the translation, but also on that Theme! most of the screen still have this L2R look.

Also, there are other few open items:
1) The guide data - will it be in Hebrew or English? this for example poses the question of the "ABC..." in the Search Guide - should we put Latin? Hebrew? Both?
2) Why are we doing this? I mean, if I had this as a real finished product, I would still use the English version...
I mean, the amount of work, and then creating sepcial skins/themes?
