Odd DVD audio playback issue

Hello, can anyone explain me why when I use GBPVR video library to play DVDs stored on my hard drive (video_ts folders) the soundtrack volume is loud while the actors voice can hardly be heard?

I've encountered this issue on all my stored DVDs (I haven't tried playing a DVD loaded on the DVD-ROM drive). I have a feeling GBPVR is only playing some of the 5.1 audio tracks. If I launch WinDVD and use it to load the very same video_ts folders, audio and video playback is perfect.

I've tried changing DVD Audio and Video Renderer settings but with no success.

I might be way off here, but do you need to install an AC3 filter?

I can't say, but audio is great when played by WinDVD.

And I assume that windvd is your default dvd player?

yes, it's the only dvd player installed.

If you were to play a DVD through Windows Media Player, does it have the same problems?

When played in Media Player sound is ok.

This usually happens when you're only getting 2 of the 6 surround-sound channels. I'd guess that WMP and WinDVD are downmixing to stereo, but GBPVR is (somehow) putting out the LF and RF (left front and right front) channels to your stereo speakers (or your TV).

Try installing ac3filter (from http://ac3filter.sf.net) or ffdshow, and setting a 'mix down to stereo' option. Sorry I'm away from my media PC right now so can't recall the exact settings...

FIXED!!!

I've installed AC3 filters, restarted and installed FFDShow (using default configuration settings).

It's working like a charm now, hooray!!!
