No picture

I am not getting any picture, either live TV or recordings. I know its working, if I play live TV or a recording through my MPV, it all works great. But, when I try to watch live tv, I get sound but no picture, if I try to play a recording, I get sound of the recording but the last image that was on the screen stays. I've tried all the playback settings.

My HW is a Expox EP-EX5300S Barebones (Intel video chipset), Hauppauge PVR-250, DirecTV satellite, Actisys IR Controller.

As I said, recordings seem to work just fine. I also updated the Video driver. I don't get snow or a choppy picture, just no picture at all, a black screen. But, when I record it does record a picture.

I'm running the latest version of GBPVR, and tried downgrading, same result.

Strange.

Any ideas?

Can you try playing a file, then post your gbpvr.exe-native.log?

This will list the directshow filters that are used on your machine for playing the file. I'm fairly sure one of these will be causing your problem.

I just emailed it to you. The only thing I saw that looked like an error was: FindFilterByName failed to locate filter: default

It doesnt seem to be finding an MPEG2 decoder on your machine. What options do you have listed in the video decoder setting on the playback tab of the config app.

I had none, just "default", I found in a previous thread a link to the GPL Mpeg decoder, and suspecting that may be the issue downloaded and installed this morning, but had to leave for work before I was able to test it out.

Sounds like I was on the right track, don't know what happened to the decoder, I did do some housecleaning on the drive a while back, so that may have lead to my problems.

Do you still recommend the GPL Mpeg recorder at sourceforge? I downloaded http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles...p_id=98765

Its ok. I've just recommended it in the past a few times, because its free, and the user doesnt have to buy another application to get. Other good (non-free) decoders are made by Cyberlink, Intervideo, nvidia.

That fixed it. I had a copy of intervideo windvd, that codec seems to work better than the sourceforge one, though sourceforge did work.

Strange. I wonder where the went?

I'm guessing you uninstalled some app that had installed them? Thats the usual cause. Either way, glad you working again.
