Couple of little fixes and sorted out some of the code that didn't work properly on the MVP.

Download from the wiki: http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Plugin/MusicLibrary2

Change log as follows:
  • Removed bitrate from screens - library seems to hang on some files it doesn't error out
  • Some MP3' length files can't be retrieved from the library either meaning they had to be re-read all the time, made these MP3's have a length of 1 so they wont be re-read everytime they are opened.
  • Updated the Skin files to add a default image to the library screen as well.
  • No DB changes
  • Changed random code so that with "new playlist set" it grabs the next set of tracks on the last track, rather than waiting for the end of playing - done for the MVP
  • Made a configuration option for how to generate a random playlist, leave off for taking what is currently selected. Note: Jukebox mode ignores this setting
  • Checked playlist loading code, took off the verification of a valid playlist (EXTM3U), sorted out the checking of tracks since it wasn't working properly.
  • Fixed MVP code for the currently playing track, it was never being updated.

Skin File changes
  • Reordered the button keys down the bottom to replicate the Hauppauge 45 button remote.

Seems to work ok, it's playing musicSmile .
1 thing I noticed: for testing purposes I set playlist time to 10 mins, but it created a playlist of 26 mins.
I skipped a couple of songs.......waited a few mins......: jippieieieei the new playlist was added during the last song. GreatBig Grin

I try to get "fairly" close on the time, but it's sometimes bit hard. i dont check that a song will take it way over, for example If i did the same, and it stumbled across one of my 2 hour Dj Sets it will stick pick them up making a 10 min playlist into 2 hours.

I have 30GB of music on my D partition.
There is a lot of disk access before the plugin starts and also a lot of disk access after it has started. Totally it takes about a minute before it is possible to use the plugin.
Why is there so much disk access, when it is DB driven ?
Best Regards

Because it's checking that songs exist, I probably do it a bit too much. I could probbly get away with doing it only on updates and letting the playing side worry about stuff being missing.

Mixman, can you try this one and see if it drops out some of your disk activity??

If so i'll include in the next release.

Just rename the current installed one (as musiclibrary2.dll.3.4) anything else it may still be called.

Just dropping the plugin and starting GBPVR gave the same amount of disk access.
But then I made a re-scan of my music dir and now it start immediatly.
Looks fine to me now.
Thanks for the fix.

Do you want to verify then, that the scan is actually doing something...I may have busted something.

I found a fair bit of disk access when creating a random playlist, but that is ML2 trying to load the image and tracks for playing.

Another hint if you get slow response is to turn off the always query, so that it will only query the database when you hit ok, or move from the left to the top screen.

Been playing ML2 last night, I think it works very well, great job psycikBig Grin
I have a wish though: Would it be possible to have a button to start the fast scan from within ML2. So that when I add music to the dir, I don't have to wait till the next fastscan, or have to do a complete scan.
