GBPVR in WinXP on Intel Mac with Boot Camp?

Hi.
Has anyone tried running GBPVR on an Intel Mac booting into WinXP with BootCamp? I have snooped around here and elsewhere but can't find any threads on this yet.

The general consensus is that everything pretty much runs fine within WinXP, and loading BootCamp+XP is simple and fast. But before I invest much time I was hoping to know how GBPVR will fare... as GBPVR is pretty much that only thing holding me back from taking a steamroller to my PC. (then I'll get to update by Hardware signature below...) :-)

Hmm Good question.. I would imagine if the tuner is usb that it would...I dont know about drivers for devices on intel macs though...most people have only talked about the included hardware, drivers...

every other component, attached to the computer should work like attaching it to a "normal pc". there are 80mb of drivers for the chipset and the included peripherals. as long as the usb-port works with win xp (should work out of the box) you should be able to get any usb-tuner to work.

besides of the tv-tuner-thing gbpvr should run without any problems on the mac.

If the tuner is a USB based compatible model (the Hauppauge USB2) it should work. Keep in mind that Boot Camp is 1) Beta, 2) a timed "trial" that will expire after several months, and 3) not officially supported until Mac OS X 10.5 due in late 2006.

I guess I don't understand why you'd want to do this, except just for grins. If you only want to run GB-PVR under XP, why pay twice as much for the Apple hardware to do it? As I understand it, you run either MacOS or XP on the box, not both at the same time...XP doesn't run in an emulator, it runs on the metal. Just buy a cheap Windoze box from Dell and run XP/GB-PVR on it and keep your Mac running MacOS.

Yes, you're right. the XOR boot situation is a barrier, now that I think about it.

But why would I spend 599 for a mac mini vs 299 for a Dell box? Becuase it's 6 inches wide, 2 inches tall, really cute, makes ~no noise at all, and spending money on Apple hardware is what trendy people with an extra $300 are supposed to do.
(well, only after they've contributed to sub)

Real VT in an inexpensive box will a nice solution. Someday soon I hope.

you could try parallels workstation. it emulates with direct access to the hardware. that means: full speed for osx and winxp at the same time.
