3.4 GHz Intel Pentium 4 Prescott with HT.
Soyo Motherboard SYP4VTE with VIA PT800 Chipset.
1gb RAM, I know that's not much these days but that's not underpowered.
ATI Radion 128MB Card.
Hauppauge WinTV PVR 150.

ok, so your certainly not underpowered at all. Try moving the PVR card to a different slot, as some PCI slots share an IRQ, and an IRQ error could be causing the complete freeze of your system (another device on your system is probably using the same IRQ as the PVR-150, and they occasionly clash, causing a freeze)

Yes I've got the updated VIA 4in1 drivers. I've had all the updated drivers for every piece of hardware in my computer. I made sure I got the updated drivers to everything before I went about installing GBPVR, I didn't want to have these problems. I was just in the process of rolling them back, but I still haven't had any luck with that. I've always found that newer drivers usually work better, if problems aren't fixed in newer drivers, they sure as hell won't be fixed in older versions.

I'm going to try and reinstall the GBPVR software. Because I found a fault, it's installed in two places on the hard drive, that's probably not the problem but I'm going to try it.

I had a problem once before with the IRQ handling of the PCI slots. I moved the card and it fixed the problems but that was at least 6 months ago. Back then I was only using Hauppauge's WinTV software. Only for the last couple weeks have I been using GBPVR. So that is a great idea, I can't believe I didn't think of that. I'll try it if reinstalling it doesn't work.

If anyone has any other ideas on possible solutions, I'm all ears. Thanks. I'll keep you guys posted.

It would appear to me that if SageTV is running ok on that PC, then it is not a hardware issue. It also appears you have updated all your drivers, so it is now pointing towards a DirectX or configuration issue.

Start by reinstalling the base software:
1) Reinstall .Net1.1
2) Goto http://www.microsoft.com/directx and install the directx April2006 update
3) Reinstall the video and audio decoders
4) Reinstall GBPVR and select the decoders
5) Reboot PC

If that does not work try the GBPVR different renderer options

If that does not work then then we need to start troubleshooting.

I'm having a similar issue with my machine. It locks up randomly anywhere from a few days apart to once a day. Usually it happens when the machine is idle although it did lock up this weekend while watching a recording. My machine is a dedicated pvr so GBPVR is always running.

Can you supply some details on the video card you're using to see if it's similar to what I'm running (see sig below)?

Severvip Wrote:So basicly you're telling me GBPVR won't work for me. Okay well I just got my paycheck I guess I have to go buy SageTV.

Please do that, and send all your questions to Sage. You won't find more helpful people that those here. This kind of questioning certainly won't help you win any friends or get your questions answered.
For example - Try listing all the steps you have taken to fix the problem yourself. Detail your setup and maybe then there will be enough useful information to determine a possible cause.

I haven't visited this forum in forever but I needed to today for a different issue. My computer works with GBPVR now. I believe the issue I had some months ago was with windows itself. I reinstalled windows completely and it fixed all my problems.

I later discovered that I had a virus in with my decoders, so that might have been causing the problem.

Thanks... I've been looking for a reason as to why my GB-PVR is locking up on randomally... I'll try that
