Here's the deal.
First my set up.
I have a VIA EPIA MII-10000 (VIA 1gHz, like a 550 mHz p2).
1 gig of memory
20GB system drive (storing all media on my file server 512GB drive)
built in network card
on board video
on board sound
Tiny case, solid state power supply (bright blue led on the front because I haven't disconnected it)
WIN2k Pro (minimized the memory footprint and running processes [with gbpvr running] before config 196mb mem footprint and 32 running processes; after config 102mb mem footprint 21 running processes)
Auto Logs into my domain with a mediacenter domain account I set up with minimal permissions everywhere except on that box and to media directories on the file server.
Only has one pci slot, being used for PVR 150.
Second, yes it works. Works just fine for recordng and watching and playing mame.
The thing is, I don't think this little box would has enough power to mark, clean and remove the commercials while recording other shows.
I would like to set up comskip and comclean along with converting to smaller files sizes (30 min show currently about 1.3GB) on my file server (P4 2.8 gHz with 2GB memory lots of idle time) has anyone set up such a thing remotely? Ideally it would process the files after they are done recording like comskip in gbpvr does. But if the processing works well in stand alone I can just set up a scheduled process on the file server.
