Hi,

I use XMLTV GUI to get my TV guide (UK Radio Times), however I notice that some of the programmes appear to get overwritten (i.e. the same program is shown between 2110 to 2230 AND 2120 to 2240 on the same channel).

This appears in many cases, and just gets the text to overwrite itself, however when it is part of a recurring recording, the recordingnow appears twice in the schedule of recordings.

I have tried a complete reload of the EPG, to no effect.

Does anyone have any ideas?

BTW my setup has a Haup 150 and Nova-T capture card both using the same XMLTV data file

Thanks

This is probably the most annoying issue that I have. Unless i'm mistaken it's because the reoccurring recording will use the times of the first ever slot and then if the times subsequently change, it'll also pick that one up too and hence you get both being recorded with whatever difference exists between the two.

Day after day I find myself manually cancelling these duplicates.

You can confirm if this is the same problem as me by running gbpvr -onlyemptyepg and see if the scheduled reoccurring recordings are still there (they will be). Note the time of one of them, then do the epg import of the xml data and if it's like mine, you'll see your original and now the new timeslot which will eventually get picked up for recording.

It's a right pain because it wastes tuners and causes conflicts where none should exist by taking up an extra tuner to record something that shouldn't be recorded.

I'm having the same problem here. My EPG data is typically valid for 2 weeks. However, when the actual date start to near, there are usually corrections to the EPG data (usually 1-2 days upfront). Not a lot, just 5- 10 - 15 minutes, but still enough to disrupt the recording.

Yep... I reported this problem a while back.

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=15533

It is the only thing that does not work smoothly.

djtaylor: I think your analysis of the fault is right. Seems to be what happens to me everytime a reoccurring program changes.

I notice that in a previous thread that Sub http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=1...ostcount=7 said that he would look at this issue.

Did you manage to identify any solution to this Sub?

I had this exact same problem. I spent a few weeks monitoring it, and i came to the conclusion that it was because the UK_RT XMLTV feed goes 13/14 days into the future. Some of my favourite shows were consistently being re-scheduled, shifted by 10 minutes or so, but it was enough to cause both of my tuners to be recording the same show. So i limited my XMLTV grab to 7 days and since then it's been perfect.

I have a scheduled task set up to call XmlTvConsole.exe every day at 02:00, to limit the days just add /d7 as a parameter. I use XMLTV GUI too, i just call the console app instead.

I actually started writing my own XMLTV grabber, got quite a long way too. But then i emailed birty and he'd already done the work Smile

The complete EPG reload option should do the trick, unless the XMLTV file you're importing has duplicates listed, or the start time has changed in a one-off recording scheduled from the TV Guide.

I notice it when I have a program setup as 'record all on this channel' set up. It sees the program in the EPG and sets itself up as pending, later on the EPG time changes the TV guide display is odd with overwriting but I can't recall which time the recording is set for. I usually manually delete the EPG data from the database file for that day and the problem recording and then reimport the EPG.
I have 'complete EPG reload' ticked. I don't think the XML file has dupes as when I import it after clearing the day it seems to work fine.

For me, it would be a shame to go to a shorter EPG.

Hi,

My XMLTV guide doesnt have duplicates listed, I have checked through another viewer. It appears to affect both one-off recordings aswell as recurring recordings when the EPG times alter.

I have tried gbpvr -onlyemptyepg followed by a reload, but this does not alter anything. Also if I delete the scheduled recording, it re-instates itself later.

I am tempted to look in the mdb to delet the relavant days xmltv, however am not confident in what I am trying to do.

I may try and only download 7 days as suggested, though this would loose some of the benfits of the system

The complete epg reload logic, that deletes and reschedules season recordings, only occurs as part of the automated overnight EPG update. Clicking the 'Update EPG' button or running with -onlyemptyepg etc, does not perform this same logic.
