Hi,

Just wondering what support we have for UNC paths with 97.7. I'm currently unable to play back from a UNC path:

I have no idea what the 'forcefailure' file - any ideas?

Thanks,

are all the GBPVR processes able to read/write from the network location? i initially had trouble when i started using unc paths as the recording service was running as a user that didn't have access.

you may also have to ensure that the mvp servers can access the unc path.

Yes, it does, just tried it, but I never got it working satisfactorily when trying to use the MVP with GBPVR running as a service because of the drive mapping issue. I got around that before by creating an external program (batch file) which I just ran from the main menu to map the drives. Guess I'll fall back to that method - it looked so promising too... Sad

Yes, it can see and read the UNC paths OK but for some reason it just doesn't want to play the video this way.

Look at the snippet of log above, its something to do with the shortname being generated by windows. Normally if you asked windows for the shortname of "House of Horrors_ITV 1_02_05_2006_20_00_01.dvr-ms" it'd give you something like "hous~1.dvr". The file extension of this shortname is pretty important, as GB-PVR uses it to determine what type of file it is.

In your case, its giving the short name "H1F8QL~R", which is something I've never seen before. GB-PVR has no idea what type of file this is, so forces a failure.

It does seem to be getting a tad confused doesn't it - at some point it even sticks an extra sub-directory in: \\mss-1\public\OTWJC7~F\H1F8QL~R ... never mind, I'll go back to mapping... thanks for the reply Sub.

It's a Maxtor 300Gb shared storage drive: http://www.maxtorsolutions.com/en/catalog/MSS_Plus/ with NTFS allegedly.

You could try the attached patch. It should resolve the issue.
