How?

Using Hauppauge WinTV PVR USB2 (45 buttons).

When using the Search Guide ("built in" one) - how can I type text? I press on the num-keys, and all I get is the numbers...

The free text search in the Search Guide screen is only useable by keyboard.

Personally, I think an on screen keypad (not keyboard) is better. myHTPC had a really nice keypad in their search tool. Remember that the QWERTY keyboard was made to slow people down.

Typing using the number pad requires me to look at the remote AND the screen. Having the on screen keypad , I only need to look at the screen. I think ergonomically it's much faster and more intuitive - no timing issues either with respect to pressing the buttons.

Hello,

If you want to use an on-screen kb - then use X-Search plugin.

Exactly that function.

Thanks.

Hi, Sorry about that - it's now rolled up with the X-record plugin (along with X-guide, rectracker, CDK scheduler)
I have all of the other plugins disabled except X-search so I can use the guide search from my bedroom.

Plugins:
http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Plugin/XRecord

By the way - I notice on the plugin page that this currently does not work with 97.7, but this will eventually be upgraded.

Hope this helps.
