I tried the patch on the latest version but still had the random exits of a recorded program. I tried the Hauppauge dongle as well as the GBPVR.BIN dongle. Nothing helped. As a temporary workaround, I installed the Hauppauge MVP software on the server to feed the MVP from GB-PVR's recordings. While the interface was not pretty, it did work without error and the video looked better too.

I was able to hunt on the 'net for the GBPVR09516.msi version - uninstalled 96.12 and put in 95.16 - no problems at all now with instabilities and it looks better than 96.12.

I am happy to have a functional unit even though it's not the latest.

CK- Wrote:Hi there. Well I have just recently started using GBPVR again after a break.
The principal reason I have been using it is to try to get my MVP working but it is really not too stable for me - certainly I feel happy to get through a 1/2 hour programme without an MVP reset.

This evening I captured the following in the log files at the time of failure:
24/04/2006 20:41:56.272 ERROR [52] Media stream thread caught exception: Specified cast is not valid.

For background, I am running with the patches identified in this thread, and I have tried both standard and gbpvr dongle. The network is lightly loaded.

Let me know if there is any other information I can provide.

I am using Dedicated PVR system, Windows XP all service packs, sempron 3100 processor, 512meg mem, PVR 150 card with MVP. GBPVR 96.12

There is nothing running on the PVR other than Windows, GBPVR, and Norton Antivirus

All works well except the MVP experiences a re-boot while watching a recorded show. it goes blank, switches to MVP contacting servers and resets to the main menu. The current position in the viewed show is not saved. This occurs under several conditions.
1. you are watching a recorded show and a show begins or stops taping in the background
2. randomly about 30 minutes or so into a show with nothing going on. Once this happens it seems to do it more frequently ie. every 10 minutes during the remainder of the viewed show.
Any ideas why it causing this reboot?

There is no log file created.

Did you apply the patch from earlier in this thread? http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=9...stcount=29

I am having this problem with 96.12 and the latest version 97.07

I am streaming wirelessly to my MVP without any problems - boots up fine.

On GBPVR on the PC, Live TV and recordings made are fine - playback no probs.

On the MVP, when I go to Live TV, I get a blank screen for about 5 seconds, then it goes back to contacting servers.
Exactly the same happens if I try to play back arecording made with GBPVR.

If I play an MPG2 file made with something else (Hauppause Software, Showshifter etc) it plays fine, so I know it's not a speed issue. It's something to do with the config in GBPVR.

I've done a fresh install of 96.12, applied the patch, no joy
Uninstalled, deleted directory and installed 97.07 - still the same.

I am using a Nova T USB2 by the way.

Any suggestions?

I've also tried increasing the pre buffer to 7000ms - no good either.

Not quite the same - I can get the options etc, just a blank screen then reboot on files recorded by GBPVR and also Live TV. Other mpg files play fine.

Went back to version 0.95.11 and still the problem occurs.

Not sure what to try now.

Could be a driver problem. Check for new drivers at hauppage and be very thorough with uninstalling the old ones, at least that's the case with pci-tvcards from Hauppauge, I guess it's the same for usb devices. Check this site: www.shspvr.com

Tried that - no luck.
I get a little farther now - it displays how long the Live TV programme lasts and the arrow on the progress bar shows how much of teh program has gone, but then reboots.
I've recorded some short sections of programmes, but when I try and play them back, the show as having a play time of 00:00:01, then restarts.
I've also tried changing the BDA multiplex option - still no good.

Other recorded MPG files play back fine, so my guess is that it is something to do with the format that GBPVR is currently recording in, both for recording and for Live TV buffering. Looking in my recording folder, it seems to be dvr-ms files (same as the Media Center files) - doesn't GBPVR usually record in MPG?

Is there any way of changing this? Changing to transport stream gives .ts files, but they're not supported.
