Well I've been having my share of trouble installing GB-PVR. A straight overinstall/upgrade went smoothly, but errors (must close now) everytime the GUI starts, and then ends. I'm not using any plugins...

So I decided on a clean fresh install, and decided to play with MediaMVP before I even setup the capture sources. The install went OK, and I was able to play MPgs and Divx locally.

But my MediaMVP would not get past the loading Application screen. I read something about dongles and Rev h2, and so I made sure that the dongle was the current one from my new install CD: ver: dongle.bin 3.0.24076

When I use the dongle that ships with 97.7 It keeps rebooting over and over.

(I have not tried the dongle that comes with 96.12 - maybe I should have)

Currently, I had to revert back to 96.12. But if I am armed with a few suggestions, I'll try again soon...

I used to ask 'why?' Now I just reinstall...

I couldn't get past the 'application loading' screen on my setup (pvr-350, Media-MVP v2.04). What I ended up doing was downloading and installing the latest beta version of hauppauges MVP software.
I then copied the new dongle.bin (2349KB) from the MVP folder into the GBPVR\dongle folder.

I fired up the MVP as normal, and started GB-PVR Media Server. Next I shut down the mvp from C:\Program Files\Hauppauge MediaMVP\Hardware\stop.bat .
The MVP reset, came up with loading application again. This time it appeared to lock for 15-20 seconds and then loaded GB-PVR interface.

Now that I have it loaded, it works just fine. It is a few hoops to jump through, but is what worked for me. GB-PVR is an awesome program.

Once I figure out some tweaks to get playback to work properly AFTER processing into DIVX or WMA ( I like to convert to save space on drive). SUB will be getting a nice payment from me (I don't donate for something until I'm satisfied it does what I need it to do).

Good luck. Hope using the newest dongle.bin solves your issue as easily as it did mine.

Just as a point of clarification, you don't even need to install the MVP Software to get the dongle out of the exe. Simply open the exe file as if it were a ZIP file (using winzip or similar) and drag out a copy of dongle.bin ignore the other .bin file.

Which version did you grab? The one here 24110b ?

A few folks on SHSPVR appear to have had a problem or two with it, but YMMV!

I think it was mediamvpsetup_25_24023b.zip that I used. I have four copies in my mvp folder right now and can't remember which one I used exactly.

You can actually rename them, I found that e.g. dongle_240XX.bin will show up in the config and you can then choose by version number in teh drop down list, for testing purposes :-)

I just upgraded to 97.7 as well, and seemd to have problems. Unfortuanlty, I did several things during my upgrade, so I don't know if 97 was directly the problem or not. I'm trying the Beta Dongle now

Here you go... I loaded the 24023b version of dongle.bin and set 4 MVP servers to autostart. I powered up 2 MVP's and here are the resultant logs. Note, there are only 2 even though 4 MVP servers came up. I think this is because I restarted the recording service once. I still see the MVPs connecting to different instances of the MVP servers and none of them ever did come up. I could give you remote desktop or VPN access to my server so you could establish a remote debug session.

I might take you up on that offer, but not today. I'm too tired.
