Just installed my MediaMVP with GBPVR. Directories show up on the TV great. However, I am unable to open the folders with the remote. If I run PVRX2 everything works fine on my PC. I can double click on the folders, they open and I can view photos and play music.

I do not have a capture card setup at this time, but that is the ultimate goal of this project.

Main question is use of the MediaMVP remote to open folders on the TV. The OK button is supposed to be the same as the enter key per MediaMVP manual.

I have searched and looked thru the forums and I guess I am not using the correct criteria.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Welcome...

A couple of questions. Are you able see GB-PVR using your MVP on your TV? Are you able to navigate the menus? will the up, down, left right keys work?

If you answered 'yes' to all those questions, and you are unable to select a folder and open it, then something might be wrong with your remote.

... or you're trying to open DVD folders, which are currently not accessable from an MVP, and only a PC...

I am able to see GB-PVR on the TV. Looks great. I am able to navigate the menus fine. Love the look and feel. The up, down, left, right buttons work. The folders are photos and music. When I run PVRX2, I can open the folders, view photos and play music on my PC. I just am unable to "double click" on the folders using the MediaMVP remote on the TV. Haven't gotten to DVD and or video yet.

thanks for the quick response Frank.

Well, with the MVP remote, you should be able to select a photos or music folder and then click the OK button... It's not a setting in GB-PVR or a IR manager or anything. That's hard coded at Haupauge...

Ok. Then I must have something set wrong or I have missed in MediaMVP. I will keep working on it. Works great in PVRX2. Hmmm. perplexing.

thanks for your quick response. Now to work on a good capture card setup. Got any suggestions for a card(s) with dual digital and an analog tuner on board? I want to stay with Hauppauge. Seems to be the best in the forums at byopvr.

Just an update. I downloaded the latest upgrade for GB-PVR 1.3.7. Everything works fine except I still cannot open the photo and music folders on the TV. The correct path shows on the TV but I cannot open them.

PVRX2 on the PC works perfectly for photos and music.

thanks

These are probably network drives? If so, then you need to be aware the MVP server runs as the 'localsystem' account so wont see your drive mappings, or may not have the permissions required to view your shares.

Hi Sub
11/02/08
I will search the forum for NAS information then. I was thinking it should see the drives as a mapped drive on the HTPC system.

11/03/08am
The first thread I found searching for NAS gave me the probable answer. Changed my paths to UNC \\freenas\Masterdrive\My Photos.
It should work if I can keep my system from crashing on PVRX2 start. Ran out of time last night. Will uninstall, delete folders, reinstall and reconfigure GB-PVR sometime this evening and give it a go with the UNC paths. It just makes sense...now..I should have thought of this myself..sigh.

11/03/08 pm
I have uninstalled GBPVR, reinstalled and reconfigured. Powered up the MediaMVP and now get the MediaMVP menu and not the GBPVR. The service is started and PVRX2 starts and looks and works fine on the PC.

11/10/08 Waiting on my Hauppauge 1800 Capture card and 2GB of RAM to arrive. Getting anxious to give it a go.

11/04/08 Ahhh. Don't forget to stop the MediaMVP services..sigh. Everything is now working fine. I can view photos and play music from my freenas box. Thanks everyone for the great assistance. These forums are great.

11/18/08 Just an update. Finally have my Hauppauge HVR-1800 card and 2GB of RAM installed. System updated and working fine.

Had a bit of a problem with very poor recordings. Audio worked fine. Posted config settings in another thread.

With the help of several from the byopvr and gb-pvr forums, we found I had my recording quality settings too low. Set GB-PVR back to all default settings and the recording to High. Recordings now look much better and looks like the WAF will be moving up on the scale this week.

Thanks for all the great feedback.

12/05/08 I ordered an 8 port Amplifier/Splitter and installed it in the attic to replace my 4 way plus 2-2 way splitters. Picture on all TV's now excellent and my recording playback on the Computer screen is excellent and acceptable on the TV thru my MediaMVP (SD only). WAF up substantially with good kudoes sent my way from her..LOL.

Thanks for all the help.
