what's the difference between dongle.bin and gbpvr.bin?

I set both in the config program but my MVP looks the same. :confused:

dongle.bin is written by Hauppauge. gbpvr.bin is an equivalent written by myself.

What are the functionality differences as well as pro-cons of your bin file?

Pros for gbmvp.bin:
- faster boot ups of MVP after initial power up.
- video in a window like you'd get on the PC
- cleaner shutdown

Cons for gbmvp.bin
- not currently compatible with new H model MVPs.
- FF/RW isnt as smooth.

subm how can I tell if I'm an H model?? I keep trying the gbmvp.bin, but everytime I revert it as video seems to partially work - I can't remember properly, but the menus go all "funny"

I'd have the "Music Li" portion of the menu move, the the "brary" would stay static. Meaning the after selecting "Music Library" and moving to the next it would read something like "Search Gibrary"

Presumably you also pulled the power plug on the MVP to reset the dongle after each change?

You could try setting <MVPUseIncrementalUpdates>false</MVPUseIncrementalUpdates> in config.xml. It might help.

that helped (turning off the incremental) I'll give that one a go for a couple of days and see what happens
