How does one get GBPVR to use FFDshow post-processing? I have been using it successfully with Zoomplayer for a long time, but GBPVR doesn't seem to recognize that it's installed even though I checked the box for it in config.

You have to also select a preferred mpeg2 decoder. It wont be used when 'system default' is selected.

That works!

Only problem now is that when I have FFDShow enabled, I can't exit from watching any recordings.

Everything plays fine, FFDShow works smoothly, but anytime I try to exit playback and return to the menu, the picture locks up and I have to terminate GBPVR.

Any ideas? I'm using the Elecard MPEG2 decoder, and in FFDShow I'm using Denoise 3D and Lanczos resize/sharpen. FFDShow isn't causing any problems with WMP or Zoomplayer.

I just finally got ffdshow working with GB-DVR myself. I also noticed the same problem when trying to exit Live TV; it just hangs, but it doesn't use any CPU time.

I'm using the Hauppauge Intervideo (5.0.22236 version), which seem to be the only MPEG2 decoders that seem to work properly with my PVR-250...

Anyone have any suggested ffdshow filter settings to make things work smoothly with GB-PVR and a PVR-250?

Did anyway find a way around this?

I'm experiencing this problem after trying to return to the main menu whenever I watch an .avi file in My Recordings.

I'm reluctant to give up FFDShow since it isn't as CPU-intensive as other decoders and thus allows me to watch XviD on my Epia.

I suspect the menu is actually there - just hidden, since I can start Live TV successfully by pressing the TV button on my Hauppauge remote, but any subsequent attempts to return to the GB-PVR menu are met with a black screen.

I would try different video/audio renderers and perhaps different de-interlacing settings, vmr7, overlay etc etc. But you might already have tried thatSmile
AMD Athlon 64 3000, HDD: 80, 120, 200 GB, Hauppauge 350 + 150, MVP, Asus 6000L Laptop client, Asus X50sl client,
Fritz!box 7140 modem/router, GBPVR 1.3.7.

Thanks for the input but oddly enough this is working again by tweaking FFDShow.

I set the FFDShow post-processor preferences to my TV's size 4:3, and set it to maintain original aspect ratio, and hey presto beautifully crisp XviD playback and no problems with a blank screen post playback.

Its good news because I haven't had any other MPEG 4 decoder working on my lowish-spec Epia-M10000. It takes my CPU from 100% down to 55-60%. But that's a story for another thread Wink
