Hello,
I have a question about MPEG-2 records using GBPVR and hope anyone can help.It is about compression of MPEG-2 files to AVI using VirtualDub, Gordian Knot and Xvid as encoder. The problem is that bitrate what I expect never match after compression finish. For example : I give a 1400 as a bitrate in Xvid but the result is 600 or much lower than I expect Rolleyes I saw a difference between *.mpg made by GBPVR and Power Cinema (I had no chance to buy ATI (Sapphire) Theatrix 550 PRO PCI TV Tuner with lame software included) Gspot gave me the following information:

1. Recorded with GBPVR: [ATTACHMENT NOT FOUND]

2. Recorded with PC : [ATTACHMENT NOT FOUND]

In container window I can see that sys stream is 50885 kb/s vbr ... is this the problem when i want to edit and compress the file. I made many AVI encodings but this is my first problem with the final product size and unexpected low bitrate. Someone can help about that ?

From looking at those 2 pics, it seems that your encoder (and g-spot) does nto like the VBR mpeg2 file.

If you look at the right hand side, they both show qual = 0.77 and kbps = 8000.

Maybe try setting up a new capture profile as CBR (they are stored in the config under capture sources, then edit the recording source) and then try again.

To be honest though - I have never had any trouble using Auto-Gordion Knot to encode my VBR mpeg2 files from GBPVR to Xvid.

Thanks

Yes they dont like recorded file...but may be have a reason for that.
I set recording to CBR, but again the same. This *.mpg is not ordinary, there is something unusual. Below is detailed information about the file :

I found that Divx work good with my recorded files and fulfill assign bitrate. May be I must use Divx despite I like Xvid more. The problem isn't in GBPVR, becouse Power Cinema recorded files give me the same problem with Xvid and this is related with the quality of the channel which I record - poor quality channels give me large deviation from the bitrate and final avi size.
Thank you for help, may be this is encoding problem - not recording.I will ask for this in some video edit forum.
...and GBPVR is simple the best software Smile thank you!
